carista I enabled and disabled several times to no avail. will try a different app as long as it doesn't cost me another $10 bucks. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
You need to pay at least the $20 pro fee for certain options on Carista. Once you do that, it all comes down to the plug that you're putting into your Toyota. No reason that it shouldn't work...but, all are different.
... So all of you entrepreneurs who plan to cheat the system and think you're somehow going to get even with Carista by "subletting" your paid app will likely just screw the rest of the folks who paid for the lifetime use when Carista just revokes everyone' lifetime subscription, or severely hobbles it. C'mon people! Carista is within rights to change their business model as they see fit- Even at $10 for a week, it is still a bargain - unless you're just greedy. It is apparent that Carista does monitor the stats on the usage of the device, and the software license almost certainly prohibits sharing functionality. Maybe the best option would be for Carista to just lock out YOUR device for violating terms when the see that the device is being used on multiple VIN's. Why not just be glad you got a device / service when it was a bargain and be content that YOU can use it for your lifetime, and not screw the rest of us who still might be considering this device. For me, $10 to change all the settings I want for a week is still a bargain.
If they lock me out, they lock me out. And if they do, I'll be sure to come here and let you know so you feel better.
If you get the app through the Apple Store you are licensed to us it on 5 different devices, I would be surprised if the software licence restricted you on the amount of cars you can use it on. I would of thought that if it did it would ask for the vin for the car you intend to use it on.
Just a heads up, if they remove the old pro support that you paid for completely you WILL be able to submit a refund request to itunes for "app has significantly changed functionality since I paid for it". Android, I'm not sure what you could do.
Awesome! Thanks! Actually there are different choices when you go here: Report a Problem The most appropriate looks to be "Item Opens But Doesn't Function As Expected"
Yeah that's the right one. If you google around you see people who are getting refunds on pokemon go in app purchases since a recent update apparently removed some features.
Are there other alternatives to carista to customize the settings not based on a subscription model? Tried sideloading the old app but the fixed price feaure purchase is not available anymore on the app
Yes. I use the following and I can change the reverse beep, the seatbelt beep and have a look at many realtime visual stats and other metrics (in addition to deciphering the P codes if the car has the check engine light). I used it to back up my hunch that the inverter failed on my wife's 2010 Prius. App (full version is $5 forever and it's updated regularly): Torque Pro (OBD 2 & Car) - Android Apps on Google Play I install the app on my Android phone and an old Nexus 7 2013 tablet I picked up for $50 - that tablet makes it easier to see the information on the fly when I am diagnosing. My preferred OBDII bluetooth device ($50): ScanTool 427201 OBDLink LX Bluetooth: Professional OBD-II Scan Tool for Android & Windows (won't let me link to Amazon) A cheaper ($20) OBDII that my friend uses that seems to work just as well (perhaps a bit slower communication to device): BAFX Products 34t5 Bluetooth OBDII Scan Tool for Android Devices (won't let me link to Amazon)
Use the Carista adapter (if you already have it) with these apps including Torque: Supported apps – Carista
Do you happen have the scangauge code for the reverse beep? Thats the only really change I'd like to make for my 2017 Prius 2.
You'll have to Google it, I printed it out but didn't keep it. IIRC you program it like an X Gauge, but it really only is used once.
