On Android, they're found in "Play Store" don't know what the equivalent would be on the I Phone. You'll like it when you find it.

Try going to post #231 and under Todor's user name there is a "start a conversation", just click on "start a conversation" and send Todor a message and ask him how to get the App.

Yes, it looks like that device should work. Send me a private message ("conversation") about getting on the beta and include your email address. The official release of the app was submitted to Apple almost 2 weeks ago and they still haven't approved it. Expecting approval any day now. At that time, there will be no need to get on the beta - everyone will have access to the app through the Apple App Store.

Hi Greg, your issue was resolved, right? If I remember correctly from our email conversation, the one-touch windows never actually worked on your car, even before you used Carista. Please let the others know, so there are no concerns :) Thanks.

This sounds really cool. I've just looked for it on the Play Store and I remembered why I so seldom get any apps from the Play Store. I've never managed to figure out how to read the EULA for a Play Store app before deciding whether to download it. Does anybody know how, if there's a way? Or does the app display any sort of EULA agreement only after downloading? Could someone who has it post a screenshot or something?

    Thanks,
    -Chap

Ladies and gents, Carista for iOS is now officially available on the App Store! Get it here: Carista OBD2 on the App Store on iTunes
(it looks like their search results have not yet updated, so if you search for it right now, you probably won't find it... so just use the link).

The best $20 I ever spent to stop annoying beeps. Good work.

The interface makes changing any of the settings easy to find, adjust and save. Toyota should give the app a look and note the descriptive wording used. It easily clarifies the terminology used in Toyota's manual, for example replacing "Light sensor sensitivity 1-5" with:
    Auto headlights activation threshold
    DARKEST / DARKER / NORMAL / LIGHTER / *LIGHTEST*

Wish it was $5 instead of $20, but worth it to help maintain your sanity.

    Well done!

    Well worth the $20!! ;)

Just knowing I don't have to go to a dealer to customize a few settings = Priceless (y)

I've had the OBD II tool for a couple of weeks, and today, I had some spare time to explore some of the features of the Carista app. Took less time to figure out the app, than to go into a dealer and ask for something that takes a couple of minutes to set. The UI layout is very intuitive, without the clutter, and very easy to access the different settings/customizations. One of my favorite features of the app, having the ability to email myself, or anyone, the latest settings/customizations, for a record of the customizations I have changed.

Best feature of this app, is not having to recover from price shock, for what a dealer wants to charge for a minimal amount of work. :cautious:

Thanks guys! Glad to hear you like the interface :) Usability is a huge priority for us and we have put a lot of thought and effort into it.

I finally purchased the BAFX Bluetooth OBD2 scanner for the Leaf Spy app for my LEAF, so figured I would take a look at Carista as well.
That's a shame (although not your fault). My Prius C had the KARR alarm installed before I bought it as well, it's the biggest piece of sh!t about the car thus far, but I learned my lesson and will NEVER buy a car with a dealer installed anything ever again.
Can you please confirm that Carista works for a 2012 Prius C (different from the Prius Gen 3)? It might be good to list this separately on your website for clarity for consumers. Also, will it work for a 2014 Prius Plug-in (I would assume so since the same line of Gen 3 Prius, but I would like confirmation before purchasing and overwriting bits with the app)?

Unfortunately I have just shy of $16 from credit from Google Rewards surveys, so I guess I'll wait until I get $4.50 more in credit then purchase your Pro upgrade. Please let us know again of future price increases if possible.

The iOS version is in the App Store

Carista OBD2 on the App Store on iTunes

But you need a Wi-Fi based reader. On the app's info page it recommends an ELM327. The in-app purchase is $20 in order to change settings rather than just get read outs.

Yes, Carista works with a 2012 Prius C. Note that you can confirm this BEFORE paying for the Pro Package in the app, just by clicking "CUSTOMIZE" and seeing if it shows any available customizations. With any model, you can see the available customizations for your particular car before paying for anything in Carista. You only have to pay if you want to be able to CHANGE customizations.

Yes! We launched our iOS version officially on the App Store! You can get it now and the price is the same as in the Android version: $19.99 USD for the Pro Package. As you noted, you need a WiFi ELM327 device for the iOS version (instead of Bluetooth).

If you guys have any feedback for us, I'd be happy to hear it :)

I'm really excited to try this app out! However, the 3rd link on the Carista site gave me a device that gives me the error code, "this device is defective. Please see list of compatible devices" (2015 Toyota Prius Model Two). Saw the warning that said it might not work, should have read reviews. Here's a pic of mine:

It's not a big deal since it was pretty cheap ($10), but my question is, will this one work for sure? I don't want to buy another faulty device, just wanted to triple check.(y)
And 2nd link to device does not work. 404 error.

Oops! I'll update that second link.
Yes, the BAFX device is the one that I'd recommend for Android - we've gotten consistently good feedback about it.

About the "vgate" one in your picture: in our office we have a few devices that look exactly the same and work fine, and we have one that doesn't. The Chinese have flooded the market with defective crap lately, and it's practically impossible to tell in advance what you're going to get. The same item on Amazon can be sold by multiple sellers and some could be getting it from the "good" manufacturers, while some others may be getting defective devices. So I always recommend looking at reviews for purchases from a particular seller, even for the devices that we specifically link to. (The BAFX device seems to be fine in that respect - we haven't heard of a single case where it uses the "defective" chip).

We're actually looking into a way to sell our own device that we can guarantee works well with the functionality that Carista needs. I'll post more on that when we have more info. But don't worry, the app will continue to work with generic ELM327 devices.

I just purchased a 2015 Prius. I am willing to pay the $20 to customize the annoying reverse beeping, but I don't want to take a random chance that the WiFi ELM327 device I buy from Amazon won't work with Carista or won't let me access and change this setting since I'm using an iPhone 6. Since it sounds like Goin2drt had some success with a newer model Prius Hybrid with an iPhone 6, I'm interest to know which device did he purchase and use?

    Thanks.
