I think Canadian cities call them by-laws, as "ordinance" sounds like one of those words I only hear on TV.

It's only in effect December to... March or April I think?

There are places I draw lines, as far as worrying about The Prius efficiency.

Any drop in total MPG's based on the simple, and momentary shuffling of The Prius due to a full 3 car garage?

Engine firing up or naught... I have to feel any loss is really insignificant.

    My advice...Forget About It...

It does seem to end up making the difference between a 4.6 L/100 km tank and more like 5.1.

no question. i used to push my old gassers around the property, instead of firing them up.

#1 is not always available on my 2012 US c2. ICE turns on if the battery is "too low", or if the temperature is too low, or if the pedal is pressed too far (it's very sensitive). It seems to turn on when shifting from reverse to drive. It's possible other countries' versions differ.

When the law is no parking 2-6am year-round, sure. But not when the law forbids it only during snow season.

I assume the purpose is to be sure streets are clear in the event of snow, because they assume people can't handle moving them if snow is coming. Sure, they could be ticketed in that case, but then they're still there, the street can't be fully plowed, snow will pile around them, people could slide into them, and they'l be hard to tow. I still think that law is stupid and shouldn't be enforced unless it's snowing. My city has a snow parking ban from November-March from 2-6am or when snow exceeds 2". Fortunately I live 2 houses away from a neighboring city that doesn't have such a dumb blanket ban, so I can always park my car or visitors' cars there.

  6. :ROFLMAO: Cause the ones up north were in high demand

I use Ultragauge and I've seen the engine turn itself off when the coolant gets up to 104 degrees.

When it's way below freezing, sometimes the engine just won't shut off, so again I wait until it gets to 104 degrees.

So it turns out we found a semi-solution. My Prius C is short enough that if I park it in the left side of driveway as close to the sidewalk as legally possible, a very skilled driver can back out of the garage and around my car, and out to the street. My Dad can accomplish this; my Mom can front in around my car but not in reverse. Still that saves us a bit of gas waste.
