I don't really care. really. I don't know why you quoted me or got upset. YMMV. The epa test isn't perfect but if the prius c got 20 mpg more than the liftback then other sources would be all over it. My friend's c does worse on texas highways than the liftback. I have no idea what speed you are going. My dispute with your post is it simply is wrong.
You don't average 70 mpg. You have gotten it. I've gotten better in a highway traffic jam. SO what? Do I get 58 mpg highway, no way. But my highway trips are normally short with a start up penalty. I probably drive faster than you do if you are getting 58 on short or medium trips.

Like I said 70 is not a good number to throw out.

As an owner of both agree there is not much difference in economy btw both to justify C over Gen3 for majority, and as a primary car suburban dwellers. In Japan it is "lesser car with better MPG for less" and in US it is "lesser car with the same MPG for not much less".

In Japan C makes much more sense b/c people do not drive as long, most drives are much shorter. The roads are narrower so the smaller car is easier to drive. And population does not suffer from obesity epidemic, so smaller insides do not create issues. 0-60 acceleration on C is worse but gearing is lower, so in 10-45MPH range it has enough pickup, and there isn't much freeway driving in Japan.

In US C wasn't big seller b/c until they dropped the prices just a couple grand would buy your more car, and 'merkans are not suckers for small cars, compare sale numbers of Yaris and Corolla. With lowered prices it makes sense as a City car, car for single person or as a 2nd family car used for long commutes.

Speaking of MPG in real life C does ~5-10% better than on liftback in extra-urban cycle, as long as temperatures stay north of 50F.
