Can you drive too little?

    You may have found it. The point I'm making is that some people want to save gasoline, others want to save money. If you pay too much for the car or its maintenance, then it takes many miles of savings to recoup that expense- and that might not ever happen for someone who doesn't drive a lot.

    It's not hard to find individual examples of some long-term survivors, and it's not wrong to hope you can be like them.

    On the other hand, hope isn't a plan. I hope our battery lasts longer than the average. I'm planning for it to happen on an average schedule.

    Edit: adding: Regarding my statement about 10-15 birthdays- this is a deliberate generalization intended to apply across several models and generations of the Prius. I would expect your case to be on the longer end of that, while our model tends to average closer to the low end.

    These days, with our diminishing use, may main interests are:

    reasonably fuel efficient
    Easy to maintain
    Heat/vent controls you can use without going off the road
    Sensible wheel/tire size
    Spare tire

    We’re at 102k kms on our ‘10, build date august 09, hybrid battery seems to be hanging in there:
