They're safer because you can see a few cars in front being up higher. (ignore the fact that you block the vision of 5 cars behind you)

I work for the state of CA in Oakland. I'm able to park in a spot in our building's parking garage next to an outlet, and charge my car for my 40 mile trip home. I bring my own charger from home.

 

None, due to "benefit" to few select employees. If you, as a company offer charging at work, you must offer this benefit to all employees (even employees with non- plug ins).

Reason: company quickly enters touchy arena of discrimination. If a firm offers charging at work, charge the employee the metered amount used or set up a compensation program (IE: benefit) for the rest of the employee populace. This is a new frontier developing, which will ripen in the eyes of lawyers - who always seem to get the lions' share of a lawsuit settlement.

Best practice is for a firm to charge for what is being used. Even if local, state and federal cash incentives make it attractive for a firm to "go green"

The fairness issue WILL crop up with employees who do not reap the benefit of free charging off the tax payers' backs.
This will end up going thru the courts, just give it time.

Hmm.. my employer has tampons in the women's restroom, free of charge. The men are offered no comparable benefit. Do you suggest I talk to my HR department about setting up a compensation program for the men at work?

 

There's a couple of guys at work that could use them.

We don't have any l2 charging stations, just 8 regular outlets and 5 NEMA 14-50 which we use to charge "company" vehicles and service cars so it would be tough to access if I had a phev

 

We have several NEMA 5-20R outlets in the parking garage that some use for level 1 charging.

I have been lobbying for a couple years to get one or more level 2 chargers installed, but no luck yet. My employer is interested, but apparently this is not high enough priority in the budget yet.

Interestingly, we have several RV outlets in one parking lot, but they are a bit of a walk for most of us.
