Another thing I'd like to see added is a way to get back to Can_View screens as the info screens. Granted, tying to go into EV mode will turn the Can_VIew screen, but not many other options seem to exist, except pushing the INFO but of the MFD 3 quick times. Is there anything else I don't know about?

Just finished updating to the latest version and I like the new options.

One of the new options is to have horizontal graphical display. This is great because not only do you get some graphics you can cram more data on the screen. But when selecting what data you want on these screens there is no fuel gauge option. I would like to see this added to the horizontal screen options in a future release. This kind of goes along with my other idea of having a fuel percentage always displayed on the screen like the SOC is displayed now.

Keep up the good work Norm! :)

Seeing all of these new options makes me want to pursue my own plugin Prius. Maybe some day I will have the money and the time. At least I hope I can do that soon.

My vote is for an interfact to connect to the MFD in newer Prius.

To add to my idea of the fuel gauge on the graphics screens I think maybe a color change for the bar would be nice. Say at %100-51 green, %50-%11 yellow and %10-$0 red. Maybe %5-%0 Start flashing red. Then when get gets below %0 put up on the screen in big bold letters and flashing "GET GAS YOU F%$#ING RETARD!" OK maybe not that last part but the rest sounds like a good idea.

This is more of an improvement than an idea. On the new horizontal graphics screen I think the data should be on the left side and the labels should be on the right. I don't know about anyone else but I think it would be easier to see the data if it was on the left side closer to the driver.

I was one of the first customer of Hybridinterfaces's CANview as background and I do not want to jump into another person shoes (Norm) but the reality of the case is ...economics.

The transmitter GVIF video chip to interface with the newer MFD requires "LICENSING" from the manufacturer and is costly ($$$), the chips do cost a lot in low quantities and to manufacture a few handful of devices..... because isn't enough demand for the product doesn't make business sense.

Manufacturing at low scale is expensive, making the final product to look expensive. The final customer doesn't care of the thousand hours spent on making a hobby product to the open market and to make everybody happy with their requests along the project.

So, the only CANview that you can get will be for an external VGA monitor with USB interface until they last and not bundled with a PHEV conversion Kit. Norm has several V3 and V4 available right now for sale

I was involved in projects alike in my electronic field, similar situations tho, but the reality is harsh.

I was messing around with the new horizontal graphics screen again today and found that it really should have more options for what can be displayed. I think it should have more temperatures listed, and defiantly the fuel gauge. I don't know what the reason is for not having all options available but it would be nice to have any data displayed on the graphics screens and the text screen. Basically anything thats listed the the formatted screen should be available for display in the other screens.

I know we have a speedometer but I think the addition of a current mph option for display would be nice.

I do like the new screen calibration. It makes things a little more accurate.

    :bump2:

Since having my plug-in Prius for a while now as well as my ScanGauge I would like to see the CAN-View have a trip MPG and tank MPG option on the PHEV screen or on another screen somewhere. I just want to see what my average trip MPG is without resetting my tank data.

I just use the trip menu for my trip data. If you go to that menu, hit clear and save, then go immediately to whatever your primary screen is (I assume the PHEV screen in your case) and hit save again each subsequent trip will start at zero and should display each new trip's data...does for my version anyway.

Yes but you cant track your tank data at the same time that way.

So you're tracking your tank data w/ CAN-View as well? Is that a different screen or the same screen? I see the difficulty......

Here's what I'd suggest Your next fill up you should hit the clear/save/PHEV screen/save. That should reset your trip data to zero as well as your tank data to zero (unless that needs to be reset separately). As long as you don't hit save anywhere again you should have each trip start at zero.

Realize you have a different version of CAN-View than I do so this may not work, but it seems like it should.

No I'm just tracking tank data with the CAN-view. The CAN-view does not have the option to track both tank and trip at the same time. What I want the CAN-view to do is the same thing as the ScanGauge. The SG can track trip and tank data at the same time and auto reset the trip data.

    Interesting...I don't think I can track tank data w/ my CAN-view.

My CAN-view does not reset the data unless you manually clear it or if it looses power. If I hit save it will save the data so I can unplug it.
