Can 2010 run on gas alone when HV battery fails?

    Just want to say that I have a 2002 with 164,000 miles on it and have had no problems with batteries...there are others that have 300,000+ with no problems and every Toyota dealer that I have talked to have replaced max 1 battery pack in a Prius...just bought a 2010 and have teh 2002 for sale...no worries!

    Toyota already dropped 30% off the price of HV battery, making it less expensive than a 5-speed automatic. Imagine how much it will cost when the warranty expires in 8 to 10 years. It doesn't mean all 168 cells in the HV battery pack will drop dead a day after warranty expires. Toyota parts are designed to last well past the warranty period.
