Can’t find 28800-21171 BATTERY (OEM Prius battery)

    Also, regarding the availability -- the dealership I went to said they had tons of 21171's sitting the shelf, rotated weekly. Apparently it's a battery that is used by MANY Toyota vehicles even into very late production vehicles. So I think the "discontinued" messages I got from the discount parts suppliers were probably bullshit, and just a boilerplate excuse for some other reason they had for not stocking the part.

    Long warranties on automotive batteries are just a marketing ploy and a joke.

    IF.....you read the details, they are always pro-rated after 36 months or so.
    And the pro-rated discount is always off of the MSRP list price.

    It is fairly common to get a replacement cheaper by paying the current
    "discounted" counter price instead of using your "warranty".
