Just spent over an hour on the phone with Motorola, not a pleasant experience. Do they have anyone that speaks English?

Anyway, since Toyota says my problem isn't an issue with the Prius I contacted Verizon, my service provider. After trouble shooting with them for a while they ultimately said the problem wasn't on their end. So I contacted Motorola the manufacture of my RAZR V3m cell phone. After being placed on hold and getting disconnected 4 times they had me reset my phone. This did nothing to fix the issue. Nothing so far has corrected it.

Does anyone else know where the time stamp is generated from for the Prius Call Log?

Could someone else with a 2006 or 2007 Prius check your call log after using your bluetoothed cell phone and see if your log shows the correct called time?

I checked my '07 (package 6 with nav). I'm currently in MST (=PDT), which is GMT-7. The times in the call log are GMT-5 -- two hours later. Changing the Nav timezone had no effect. I have an LG Chocolate with Verizon. I wonder if the calendar changes dates at GMT-5?

As far as I can tell, the only place the time is used is on the call log. The nav uses its own timezone settings, and the calendar only shows the date.

Both GSM and CDMA networks provide timezone information to the phone based on where the tower is located -- I've noticed mine jumping between zones when I'm in a border town. The phone itself shows the correct time.

EDIT: From looking at the specs for the Bluetooth handsfree protocol, it looks like it does not send the call time. So I think that the time for the calls list is hardwired in the MFD to EST (GMT-5).

    Alanh,

So your call log is showing 2 hours ahead as well? Thank you for checking it.

Well, if I had to vote for a fixed time zone, EST would be my choice. :D

Sounds like Toyota did a little quick and dirty coding for this part of the system. Maybe an update will fix it.

And how do we get Toyota to do that, when they're not even admitting there is an issue?

I created several threads in other areas to find more people that may have the same issue. Not everyone looks at all the threads.

    UPDATE:

Since going off Daylight savings time my Prius is now 3 hours ahead of the real time, in the telephone call log. The time zone and daylight savings settings have no effect on the Bluetooth part of the computer. They only make those corrections for the NAV system times. There seems to be no phone settings in the Prius that address this.

I spoke to a Toyota Customer Rep today and he is checking into the issue but stated he has never heard of this before.

Sure would be nice if another forum member that has a 2006 or 2007 Prius with Bluetooth, would check their call log after using their cell phone. I bet this issue is more wide spread.

If only I could find out where the Prius gets it time stamp information for the Call Log from.

I was contacted by Toyota about this issue. They had heard about it on the Lexus side before. The rep I spoke to even looked at several vehicles on their lot and all had incorrect Call Logs. He said apparently Toyota knows about this but not many customers have said anything. So there is no word if a fix is even in the works. He even asked them where the Call Log gets the time stamp from and wasn't given an answer, like it is a secret or something. Anyway, I am glad it was not my cell phone or cell service. Now Toyota needs to get off their butt and do something about it.

My suggestion is that everyone should be complaining about this issue so Toyota will fix it.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I have an 06 and this week I noticed the same phenomenon; that the Call Log is always EST time (which in my case, is 1-hour behind the current Daylight time). At least for me, it is correct for 4.5 months out of the year.

I never look at the Call Log (as I suspect few people do, since you can't do it while moving), and that's a big reason why it took me more than 3 years to notice it. ;)

Not a big deal by any stretch, but it would be nice if Toyota took a steps to correct it in a software update.

BTW, I have a Telus phone, which is CDMA.

If something I paid for doesn't work as it is supposed to, then it is a big deal. It's simple software fix that apparently Toyota doesn't feel the need to address. Why is it the norm for software to always be released with bugs? Better yet, why do consumers accept it?

Call Logs are referenced to EST! Thats it. At this time no change in sight. Everytime I am at the dealer, I play stump the tech with this minor problem. It's fun to see them spin in circles, and have to admit there is no curent fix at this time!!!

I wonder if the '10 model has this problem.
