California HOV Sticker

Picked up my car on 10/30/05, mailed application on Halloween, no registration needed, I just put "new vehicle" where the plate goes and wrote the VIN number in. Received the stickers 2nd week in December.

Hey Beachdriver what time do you drive the 405? Lately I've been seeing the same Prius as I pass it in the carpool lane..

 

It took a liitle less that 3 weeks to get my HOV stickers. I just got them last Saturday. (Dec 17th) The check got cashed in about 10 days from the date I mailed it.

As somebody else posted, I also got the dealership to pickup my license plates during their normal weekly visit to the DMV. So I had them 1 week after I got the car.

Do you need plates on the car to get the stickers? I have yet to see an 06 with the stickers without plates

 

No, you don't need plates. I've seen several cars with stickers but no plates in the Bay Area (which means those people went through the FastTrack process too). I just left that blank on the form. They'll connect the VIN (which does have to be in their system) with your application internally.

The DMV cashed my check this week, and they wrote my plate number on the back of the check. I haven't received the plates yet.

 

No, you don't need plate for the sticker. Called 01/09/2006 headquarter DMV to verified, no sticker is neede, only VIN is require. Personally I have not seem any Prius 2006 out there with sticker too, not to mention the one without plate, I think I might be the first one in LA that have the sticker right now. Wuhahaha, just got my sticker yesterday 02/02/2006, and here's my process timeline.

01/08 Drove my new Package 8 Prius 2006 home from dealer.
01/09 Called DMV to verify for submmitting without plate number.
01/09 Send out HOV sticker application with USPS next day express.
01/27 Check was cashed by DMV.
02/02 Sticker rec'd from mail.
02/03 Today , drove my Prius with HOV on carpool to work within 45 mins. (An average of 75 mins to 100 mins of commute each day)

Prius(HOV) = Carpool = Priceless

So what sticker number are they up to now?

And NO you do not need a license plate to apply- just put the VIN number down and submit it to Sacremento (you have to mail it).

The sticker number is up to 46,718
DMV will stop issuing at 50k to evaluate the carpool lane condition before maximise to 70k quotas. So hurry up everyone. Good Luck!!

 

Got mine today!

 

Mine took almost 5-6 week before I got mine. But once check gets encashed you will get it pretty quickly.

 

1/13 picked up car, picked up transponder, mailed DMV
1/30 check cashed
2/4 received stickers, as well as title (sent separately) #458XX

now to find the 3M material to mount them...

01/28/06 - Check cleared bank
02/03/06 - Stickers arrived

My sticker number is in the 47,000 range.
