Previously, a plug in car sold in California also generated credits in other states. This was to encourage clean car sales in CA since the law giving CA the authority to replace EPA rules was only made in the first place because LA was so polluted. This is gone now, but remains for fuel cells. It makes sense that most evs have been sold in CA as a result. The incentives have also been stepped up and our gas tax went up.

Yes I agree apporx 50% sales in Ca. The reference I saw to 75% still on road are in Ca.. was posted here once by someone, article by CleanTechnica, but I do not know if it was typo or what. But it was talking about Plug-in population, not sales.

Taking one part of an article some posted at some point is difficult to review.
I have seen no evidence of plugin vehicles having a lifespan any less than other cars.
What anecdotal evidence I have seen is just the opposite.

I would be interested in any actual data that tracks vehicle lifespan.
I have seen evidence of many early adopters owning plugins for shorter periods of time, as they replace the cars as new plugins with more capabilities appear on the market. However the overall lifespan of the vehicle is not shorter.

75% still on the road in California could mean 25% have been exported to other states.

And just like any other vehicle on the road, you have a portion of that 25% of vehicles lost to accidents. Seems like any accident severe enough to blow the air bags will total it.
