No, the latest possible date for the full credit is September 30, 2022. However, it could also be June 30, 2022. It will be one or the other. It is not definite at the moment, as Toyota hasn't given out official numbers. Nevertheless, there is no way it's going to be past September 30.

 

Sorry you're correct. The $7,500 tax credit is available until the following quarter after the quarter in which the manufacturer reaches the magical 200K mark. Just reread it on the IRS site for @hill (think I messed what I told him up). Here is the quoted text from the IRS:
"The qualified plug-in electric drive motor vehicle credit phases out for a manufacturer’s vehicles over the one-year period beginning with the second calendar quarter after the calendar quarter in which at least 200,000 qualifying vehicles manufactured by that manufacturer have been sold for use in the United States"

That means if they reach the 200K mark tomorrow, on the 17th then those that are purchased in the next 13 days until the end of June are eligible for the full $7,500. After that the tax credit goes to $3,750 until December 31st (6 months). Then the tax credit goes to $1,875 until June 30th of 2023 (the last 6 months). It all depends on Toyota. They have to submit the paperwork that shows when they hit 200K.

 

Yes, the full-tax-credit expiration date is either June 30, 2022, or September 30. It is annoying that Toyota yet has to announce it. I'm leaning towards September 30, but it could well be June 30 as well.

 

........ & ANY tax incentives possibly reaching future BZ4X sales - when they DO finally arrive on showroom floors, will be going strictly to CARB states .... where sales critters add $5K to $10K to the sticker price .... and of those sales - in Calif. where most will go - add 8% sales tax. Add to that the junk that dealers throw in like mats and paint treatment & you're practically looking at the cost of a model 3 - w/out the most advanced charging network. Thus .... we now patiently buy used.

There are dealers here that sell at MSRP. Sales tax, yes, 10.25% in my city. Factory mats? They are useful and cost about $259 + tax. You can specify the factory accessories when you order. Honest dealers don't have mandatory dealer add-ons. Used vehicles? They are more expensive than new vehicles these days.

 

Yep, seems as though quite recently a few of our local dealers are distancing themselves from those that are have additional mandatory add-ons (and money). In fact a couple of dealers have statements on their websites that they don't charge over MSRP, which seem to have magically appeared overnight.

Looks like they are stopping domestic production until July. Yes this includes the bZ4X, Prius PHV (aka Prime) and NX 450h+. RAV4 is in there as well just not sure which models but all RAV4 Primes come from Japan. Feel sorry for the factory workers as Toyota says they intend to keep their current target of 9.7M vehicles manufactured.

 

Prius and Prius Prime are not being suspended. Yeah!

For those who will purchase the bZ4X in New York State, it's official. NYS Drive Clean Rebate now includes the Toyota bZ4X. This is an instant rebate that comes off the price of of the vehicle at the dealer, regardless of the total price paid or trim level purchased. And no, NYS tax payers are NOT paying for this rebate.

For anybody who purchases the sister Subaru Solterra, the rebate is $500. The rebate is based on MSRP of the base model and EV range. The Volkswagen ID.4 is eligible for $2,000 as is the Kia EV6 58kWh and Hyundai Ioniq 5 58kWh. Apparently NYS thinks if the battery is specified then it is a new model of the car. For instance the Kia EV6 77kWh and Hyundai Ioniq 5 77kWh battery are only eligible for $500.

There is a MSRP limit of $42,000. Any car above that only gets a $500 rebate.

 

It is a fund set aside by a Federal Judge for NYS cut from the Volkswagen Dieselgate. NYS uses NYSERDA to run it. Additional monies have been set aside for expansion of Electrify America DC Chargers.

Yep and an EV limit of at least 200 miles for the $2,000 max.

Yep 260 they sold in the States can't be driven. Could be worse, if you're one of 2,200 Europeans to grab one you have to park it as well or the whopping 20 in Canada.

And, it affects not only bz4x but also Subaru Solterra. Yep, further delay for delivery on those BEVs. Tough starts for both Toyo and Subie.

 

Toyota is saying they don't have a fix, but if it was just torque? As opposed to thread stretch from overtorque, or insufficient load capability? or studs pulling out? Wish they could be more specific because if it was just loose not you could tighten them up yourself..... not have to park the car. And the risk is that wheels could come off? Well they always said you can drive a Toyota until the wheels fall off

I keep rereading the article and was wondering how hub bolts come loose from the hub. Hopefully they just have a bad batch of lug bolts that are pulling through the hub. Don't tell me the hub is defective. Yikes that's not fun to replace and nowadays many are sealed with wheel bearings. Maybe they have an integrated ABS sensor or they have to get extras in case Toyota techs destroy the sensor before detaching them. It's already a problem getting parts to just build cars but to rebuild 10,800 wheel hubs plus some ABS sensors.

 

So, why did Toyota use lug bolts which Toyota calls "hub bolts" on this car instead of time-tested lug nuts on wheel studs?
