hopefully their delay won't be as long as the plug-in Mitsu outlander took. Jeez that was what ..... iirc roughly 2 years? hand raisers got fed up and simply bought something else.
Oof the tennis match (or ping pong if you prefer) continues. Now they announced reinstatements of production suspensions. Looks like the bZ4X and Solterra production is being suspended for most of August except the week of the 15th through 19th. The Prius and Prime are shutting down Monday and Tuesday, August 1st and 2nd. Since they are in Japan, Monday is already done and coming up on Tuesday. Thanks for the update. That is back to what I cited earlier. Yeah, I am getting less optimistic that I will actually test drive Soltera this year. Besides, with the new EV incentive laws being discussed, it may be better to wait for next year to be sure I get the best pricing on whichever BEV I am buying. BTW, there is no 1 week of production in Aug for either bZ4X or Solterra. See the small note on the table you have linked. *All plants will be closed from August 13 (Sat) to August 21 (Sun) due to the summer holidays.
Duly noted, thank you! That's what I get for not reading the footnotes. Maybe they can be weather forecasters since their domestic operations change as often.
Recall, don't drive, will buy back, $5 rebate to existing owners of wheels falling off cars. Toyota offers to repurchase bZ4x units from owners amid safety recall
September Production Plan | Corporate | Global Newsroom | Toyota Motor Corporation Official Global Website Toyota and Subaru added 4 days to their September production suspension so all of August plus the first four working days affects the bZ4X and Subaru Solterra production. Well doesn't matter now, if someone (other than a dealership) didn't order them they will be subject to the new rules under the deficit reduction act and won't be eligible for the $7,500 when Biden signs it into law. A lot of RAV4 Prime owners are canceling their orders because they aren't getting them in time under the old tax credit rules for the full $7,500 and they'll be ineligible under the new ones. Big Chunk of Owners Will Not Buy 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime Because of Tax Credit Phaseout | Torque News Man now the same dealerships (and Toyota/Lexus) that have asked for $ over MSRP have to sell the cancelled ones with discounts and incentives. I mean seriously, who wants to pay $50,000 for a RAV4? Personally I'll remember the dealers that are asking for $ over MSRP and hope they choke on all those cancelled orders. Most of the rest they build in Japan for the last quarter of this year will end up in Europe or even Canada.
Purely from a Karma standpoint, I agree. However, there is huge demand for those RAV4 Primes. I believe Toyota could sell every single one they can build IF they would sell them in non-CARB states.
Hopefully some do make it to Canada. There’s a 2 year wait for the RAV4 Prime and dealers have stopped taking orders. I’ve asked out of curiosity and they said they don’t even want to take orders because they cannot fulfill it. One Prime a year makes it hard to sell when your list is so long.
EV tax credit consequence: Plug-in vehicle lease prices are soaring The loss of the EV tax credit just made the lease price just go up. Combine that with an increase in interest rate will put a damper on sales especially if they are now $7,500 more. I think dealers eyes were bigger than their stomachs from anticipated orders and the extra over MSRP they were getting. Always wondered if Toyota keeping silent about approaching or going over their 200K limit was really focussed on keeping orders flowing from the dealers?
You guys might like this. The Toyota bZ4X Isn't Eligible for the EV Tax Credit Because Toyota Wasted Them All on Plug-In Hybrids (PHEVs) I think the requirement about the vehicle being made in North America also caught them flat footed. They'll have to scramble to get sales out the door and will offer incentives, but I wouldn't expect much. Base on the previous post lease increase, they shaved off $500 total for the lease instead of raising the lease the full $7,500. They'll probably have an extra $500 off of their PHEV and sole BEV as an incentive for later this year like the Toyotathon.
The front end isn’t Lexus-grille, but a lotta manta Ray, catfish, Predator. Walking towards it, the profile struck me as over-the-top gaudy, escaped from the set of RoboCop. looks like good ground clearance.
Nice bi-polar paint job... Is this the option for people who can't decide between a white and black car? Kids these days... Back in my day we painted the whole car the same color! It looks like it got in a wreck and they didn't have the right color for replacement parts.
