buying new house from builder, what option should i pick

I put in a line to a charging station out by the driveway that has 3 - #6 and 1 - #8 for a possible future 50 amp circuit, and 2 - #12 and 1 - #14 for a regular 110 outlet. It currently has 20 amp breakers and separate outlets so the Prime and a regular tool can be used at the same location. This allows for future upgrades if I our a future owner needs more current for higher power car or RV. I considered a 50 amp panel that could be more versatile in the future. The bigger wire was a bit more money, but worth it for future upgrades. (Don't forget GFI circuitry for outdoor circuits.)

Yes; you can get two-pole GFCI circuit breakers up to 60 A in Square D’s QO series, for example.

GFCI protection is required for most receptacles installed for EV charging (National Electrical Code 2017, 625.54); this doesn’t apply to existing receptacles, for which GFCI protection might be required by other code provisions.

 

You can never have enough receptacles. Especially in the garage. I would have a quad box every five feet I swear if I was building a house. At least that's what I installed in my garage.

Code in Fla is no point along a wall must you be more than 6 feet from an outlet.

In my town new code is Arc Detect breakers in addition to GFI's in wet areas. When I installed my new panel I looked it up and passed on my first inspection. Had my ac drop to the house buried too.


If i was building a new house all breakers would be AFCI and a generator lockout bypass.

The usual rule is that there has to be an outlet within 6 feet of any spot, meaning they are 12 feet apart.

At no point along a wall must you be more than 6 feet from an outlet. I looked it up.
