Broken Windshield- AGAIN!

My 2016 Prius has a cracked windshield near the bottom towards the middle. We purchased it this way though.

I have noticed many small pits have appeared as well.

 

Maybe it's a highway maintenance thing. Or lack thereof. Roadways used to be pretty clear of detritus back when there were street sweepers making regular rounds. I also notice many more off-road designation vehicles among regular traffic on the road now. When did that happen? These enthusiasts if you want to call them that drag all sorts of crap out onto the road. Windshield and headlight damage/replacement and chipped paint on all the leading edges of your vehicle are just acceptable risk now. Which makes me happy to be a high mileage driver who is allowed frequent replacements.
