"OEM tires" is a very broad paint brush. Assume that means "the tires that came on the vehicle".

Per previous responders, there are often multiple tires used for this role. Also, in some cases the OEM is is a special version of the tire, not available in aftermarket.

The Bridgestone Insignia SE200_02 (one 2nd gen Civic Hybrid OEM tire) vs aftermarket Bridgestone Insignia SE200 (no suffix) is one example.

I have over 50K miles on my EP20's, it is a good tire. I checked with Bridgestone corporate and they stated that the EP20's will get better gas mileage by two to four miles more than the EP422s. I too was leaning towards the EP422's but after that and also that my last set has preformed so well, I am going to stick with the EP20's. Regards.
