Sorry, I did not mean to slight other countries.
I was born in Canada who has historic ties to the UK. I am now a US citizen in the US so I somewhat relate to these three countries. I have less knowledge of the other countries.

Hey, don't apologise. That was just me being silly and referring to the German Deutschmark, the national currency they used prior to the European currency.

If you have to explain your jokes to people, they stink. So I'm now a fully paid up failed comedian as well!

    :(

The local Chevy dealer offered a free lunch from Chick-fil-a. The catch was a test drive. I drove a Volt. I plugged my USB drive into the port to see how it worked with the infotainment system. If I was a serious buyer I would want to pair my phone to see how well the bluetooth works. I would take empty boxes with me to simulate a full cargo load. At the salesman's request I chirped the tires at a traffic light (probably due to low tire pressure).

Someday someone will like that car enough to buy it in spite of my miles.

When I was shopping for Mom another Chevy dealer wanted me to take a car home to show her. That would have put another 26 miles on it without a guarantee of a sale. Some dealers will let let some customers have a car for an extended test drive over a couple of days.

It is up to each of us to decide what is acceptable use before we sign the contract.

Should an employee use inventory as a shuttle?

Should a customer of the Service Dept. take a "test drive" returning the car when the service is done?

Should all of the protective film be left intact until the sales contract is signed?

I don't have an issue with Clint & Puddin driving the car. I do have an issue with the dealer not prepping the car and the scuffs on the top of the bumper cover. Toyota should have a rubber strip in place as standard equipment because it is such an obvious place for wear.

Am I the only one that thought of Harley Quinn while reading this thread?

Kind of. I served for 37 years, but think the expression is of USAF origin.

Hi Dianne, So great to hear about your experience. I live in Nashville and am looking around for dealers. I haven't had great experiences with two in-town dealerships. The salespeople didn't seem to know anything about the cars. Or rather, I felt like I knew more about them than they did and that's saying something! Anyway, I'm curious about how you handled the out of state purchase. Was there a problem with the sales tax? Would you be willing to talk about the process a bit?
I'm glad you like your car. I'm looking for a 2016 Three with ATP or a 2017 Two. Thanks! Mitch

Following up on the Clint and Puddin' story -- thanks to our forum moderator (PriusTeam), I did get a call and case number from Toyota Customer Service, and a (very quick, same-day) followup from my dealer. But no satisfactory resolution to date. Dealer has offered to put us in a new car (Blizzard Pearl, not Classic Silver that we now have) at an additional cost of $1,100. Initially it was $2,200 extra, but it's now down to $1,100. That's right, we could pay $1,100 more to have a car with 6 miles, as opposed to the car we got with 255 miles on it.

That sounds like good news to me. I wouldn't try to sway you one way or the other, but wish you all the very best whatever path you choose. (y)

I've caught dealers in lies too many times, and have come to distrust them automatically. The only time I go into one is when there's a TSB/recall, or when purchasing a vehicle. Otherwise I steer clear.

When at a dealer, I suspect everything they do, and question them at any point if something bothers me. During the purchase of a new vehicle, I make it very clear that I have no problem getting up and leaving. I'm not there to make them happy.

Don't get me wrong. I'm absolutely cordial and civil at all times. Even when it's clear I've been treated poorly by them.

I wish I hadn't gotten to this point in life with dealers, but have yet to meet one that hasn't disappointed me.

it's after the fact - so it's not much help - our 2nd home is near Franklin, south of Nashville & I have had various red flags from talking to some of the good folks that sell cars there.

Blizzard Pearl is one of the premium, extra cost colors. I wonder why they did not offer you the original color?

There are a few good sales person / dealer combinations, but they are very few. If you need to make a choice, a good sales person can be the most valuable & helpful. I have experienced a combinations of good & bad.
My latest (good/good) experience was with a sales person that still drives a Gen 1 Prius. He took 30 minutes explaining the Prius features before our test drive.
