I kinda cheat a little, I went to the grocery store, went 10 to 15 mph, traveled a total of 5.6 miles, added EV range left over and trip odo miles to come up with 13.5 miles

I rarely use up my EV before I charge again so it's a guess for me, but when I went to Ann Arbor MI. in September I drove till I used up all my EV and when ICE kicked in my trip odo was at 15.4 miles

Rebound, one correction: even if instantaneous MPG is showing 100 MPG, when you're in EV mode, this does NOT necessarily mean that the ICE is off. I've been in EV-BOOST on the highway going at 74 when the ICE was obviously on but the MPG shown was still 100. The most reliable way to determine whether ICE is on is to look at the car icon – if it's filled in green and says EV, then ICE is off. if you just have the outline of the car, then ICE is on.

Im loving my plug in Prius here in Tropical Buffalo NY! I plan on installing a block heater this weekend since its only a matter of time before the ICE will be a necessary evil.

THANKS for your reponse. That's neat that your hometown is Canton. I drive through there on my way into work. :) I've been experimenting with different ways to make the trip. The best mileage so far has been 67mpgs. That was a nice surprise. Using ECO in both modes seems to work the best I've noticed.

SOme good points here. I've already discovered that ECO on all of the time seems to give me better MPGs overall. I live less than a mile from the highway, so I don't have to use up much power in EV mode when I start out in the morning.
I'm totally enjoying this car and getting to know how it works best for me. :)

The "cold" here so far is probably "warm" to you back-easterners and mid-westerners (you're all back east as far as I'm concerned - LOL) We're still wearing shorts out here… but the mornings can get cold. The seat heaters are essential for keeping the ICE off. There haven't been any lo temp/hi humidity mornings yet, so with no fogged windows there's been no real need for heating up the windshield and windows until after I hit the freeway. The mornings of fogged glass are coming up really soon, however.

So far my MPG has been increasing slowly but surely each month, though I think I'm pretty close to maximizing it now. Latest "trick" has been using DRCC on the freeway. Works great in the morning when traffic is rolling well, not so much for the home trip, since it's bumper-to-bumper by then. (Yeah, not EVERYthing is perfect in SoCal…)

As a "newbie" may I ask what the DRCC is? Thanks.

Dynamic range radar cruise control - It uses sensores on the car to slow you down if a slower car is sensed ahead.

Oh, ok....yes, that's on the Advanced model. I bought the base, so mine does not have that--maybe someday. :) Thanks.

THanks for the info. I've figured out much of what you've shared, but you've answered more of my questions too about the display. Tks.
