So the dealer checked some others they had and they had the click too. The service person still didn't like it though and he thinks maybe Toyota will put out a TSB on it. I'm hoping that a bunch of people will complain to Toyota about it so hopefully there will be a fix.

I determined that the click is emanating from this bracket and/or the bolt that goes through it. The bolt has the cotter pin and is attached to the spring. I was able to tweek it a little with a screwdriver enough to change the pressure to get rid of the click. It may be just temporary though. Just for orientation, in the pics, the black thing is the brake pedal post, so this is looking up from the floor. And left is left and right is right. All Toyota would have to do to fix this correctly is replace the bracket/bolt assembly with ones that don't click. @Prius Team

I believe that @keymusic is 100% correct on the bracket/bolt/spring causing the metal on metal tap as the brake pedal is being depressed. I had my 2016 3 Touring at my local Toyota dealer yesterday to fix a navigation unit issue and perform the recall on the emergency brake. The mechanic, shop manager and service manager all looked at it and determined that it is functioning normally with no repair available to quiet the sound. I found this answer to be correct yet unsatisfactory. Upon calling Toyota of America I was instructed to have the dealer notate the sound EVERY time that I take it in for any service or maintenance in order to have a record of the ongoing issue. If enough owners having this issue report it with the manufacturer then hopefully Toyota will issue a TSB or recall soon to fix this aggravation.

I have a feeling that there won't be enough people complaining about this to have Toyota care. It's been over a week and a half since I did the tweak, and still no click and the brake pedal is still functioning normally.

@keymusic I have a feeling that you are also correct about the lack of repair by Toyota. You were able to rid the noise by adjusting pressure on the cotter pin or the spring?

Does the brake pedal still shift or wiggle from left to right? That is definitely not right.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what I did! I think it may have been from putting the screwdriver on the left side between the head of the bolt and bracket and bending a little there. I was just putting the screwdriver between metal anywhere I could in that whole assembly, but I'm not exactly sure what specific point I tweaked to stop the sound.

Yeah, mine doesn't either. I was very surprised to hear that the poster has a brake pedal shaft that wiggles back-and-forth.

It's very slight horizontal movement, but it definetly moves.

I have been adjusting the bolt, bracket and cotter pin to no avail. I still have the small click.

I think it's more than an adjustment. I think you may have to actually bend the bracket a little bit, but I'm not sure exactly where. I think I just randomly got lucky when I was messing with mine

Yes mine stills moves horizontally even after I got rid of the click. It's still like my video except with no click sound now. Dropbox - File Nov 18, 11 22 13 AM.mov

Well, the service manager at the dealership that I have been using for service since 2012 has come to the conclusion that there is no problem with the brake clicking noise and therefore nothing to repair. He claims to have driven an identical model and discovered the same noise. He also became very upset with me when I called Toyota of America to notate the issue that I'm having. I found that most unprofessional and disrespectful. I took an identical model on a test drive about an hour ago and what do you think I heard? Nothing at all. There was no sound after trying to duplicate what my car is doing after about 80 attempts. I'm taking the Prius in for an ongoing radio issue that I'm having and will speak to the service manager again tomorrow morning to see if he will either attempt to repair the vehicle or he will double down on his "no issue" argument.

Hopefully it'll get worked out. Yeah it's hit and miss. My son has the same exact Prius as me and his doesn't have the dreaded click.

Toyota service people Kept my car for two days and one by one they found the ROOT CAUSE. And the problem was in the middle part of engine manifold and exhaust (muffler) the third piece in between they replaced with spring and seal. And noise gone 100%.. Happy Days Once Again... I Hope it help someone.
