I just found something else that's interesting. My estimated peak power in Ev mode (includes mass, rolling friction and aero drag) is 56kW. That's suspiciously close to the 53kW of MG2 and suspiciously far from the 76kW of dual-motor mode. I wonder if it was operating in single-motor mode for some reason such as battery or motor temperature or traction. The video shows plenty of battery charge so that shouldn't be it.
While the combined power of the two motors is 76 kW, the max power of the dual motor mode is limited by the battery power which is, according to Toyota publications, 68 kW.
Also remember that without changing gears, MG2 is not capable of delivering max power at every speed. MG1 obviously helps in the low speed region, but at higher speed it doesn't add any more power. Even if they limit the battery (inverter actually) output to around 50 kW, it still makes sense to couple MG1 and MG2 together, to get more power on the wheels at different speeds.
Can anybody look into the technical data list of the manual what it says about max. speed ? According to Toyota.Netherlands it has gone down to just 100 mph opposed to the regular Prius which can go up to 112 mph !?
Well, the chief engineer said that Ev mode could produce 76kW peak. This run produced an estimated 56kW peak, which isn't very close to either 76kW or 68kW.

There are streets in SoCal with 60 mph limits, so the acceleration there is appreciated when getting into those streets. I don't know where you are, but here in California we have metered on ramps. But they are working only during traffic so even though you're stopped at a light, you don't need a lot of get-up-and-go. I do agree with you that the acceleration in the Prime is adequate. I went through the US manual of the Prime and either I missed it or i can't find a word about max. speed nor ground clearance !? Shouldn't that kind of info be in there ?
Assuming the car weighed 1650kg with one person and a tank of gas, I get 57kW for Ev mode and 77kW for Hv mode. Considering the ratings are 76kW and 90kW, something isn't right. If I use 1950kg, I get 68kW in Ev mode (the supposed rating of the battery) and 90kW in Hv mode (the supposed rating of the combined gas/electric system). To Iroki (the person who generated the videos), did you have a fully-loaded car when these videos were taken?

Would be nice if someone can check and report the operation of the new Charge Mode feature as it is a new feature. If my PiP had this 'forced charge' feature I would have checked it as follows: Driving on a flat highway at constant speed (anything between 50 and 60 mph but constant) in HV mode after EV miles have depleted and engine is warmed-up completely. Resetting 'trip meter' and after a minute or so - noting the reported consumption (mpg) for this speed. Switching to Charge mode (in the Prime - pressing and holding the EV/HV button for 3 seconds or so?), and resetting the trip meter again. Keeping the same speed as above, waiting until some EV miles have accumulated, then checking the 'accumulation rate' (EV distance added per unit of time). Lastly, noting the new consumption (mpg). From these, charge rate (power), charge time (to 80%) and gallons of gas needed for charging can be calculated.
I just found out that my electric utility (Sacramento Municipal Utility District) has a program for plug-in vehicles. They offer a $300 rebate as a "Charge FREE for a year" program and a "PEV Pricing Plan" that provides a 1.5 cent per kWh discount between midnight and 6 a.m. This means that my electric rate will be 7.17 cents per kWh during that period. I don't have records of the amount of current use at home to recharge, but I can calculate a cost for me to commute from work to home using the ChargePoint information I recieve from the chargers at work: Based on the charging records, I have averaged a usage of 6.35 kWh on 6 days of commuting over a distance that is almost exactly 25.5 miles each way. I have made it all the way on battery except for one morning when I made a short errand that added a couple of miles and fully depleted the battery. So, 6.35 kWh per charge x $0.0717 per kWh = a whopping $0.455 per charge. The discounted price saves me $0.10 per charge. I don't get it then. Your Prime either weighs about 700 pounds more than it should or it's producing a lot less power than it's rated to produce. I've checked my math (I found an error, but it was in the fourth decimal place) several times.
I'll collect another dataset on dry pavement. But it may be a few days as we're forecast to get a series of storms over the next week or so. I'll try to get it as soon as it's dry enough. Could it be temperature related? I can't recall the exact temperature that morning, but the lows have been in the low 40s for awhile and it was at about 4:30 am or so during that run.
