After working for a couple of weeks I experienced the same connection problem again. After stopping and restarting my car it started working again without me doing anything else and has continued to work for a couple days.

This is very frustrating since it stopped working when I was using navigation with Entune for traffic. I didn't realized it had stopped working and the navigation system lead me into a traffic jam it would have routed me around if my Bluetooth connection hadn't failed.

This sounds just like what several of us have experienced. Since Verizon replaced my phone, I initially had one Bluetooth outage and it has been working since. I hope it keeps working for you. I also hope they send a software "fix" from Verizon.

Now I am having this problem. I have had the sprint samsung galaxy s4 android lollipop 5.0.1 update for months now, working with entune 2.1

Since I upgraded to entune 5.1, now my Sprint Samsung galaxy s4 lollipop 5.0.1 intermittently connects to my prius. It will disconnect while on I heart or phone or another app then disconnects even though my phone still shows it as paired to the car.

    No solutions yet.

Verizon issued an update to the S4, but it did almost nothing. The update didn't even address the bluetooth issues. (Android 5.0.1) . I received an email from Toyota saying that both the Entune app and the in car audio will have an upgrade available August 20th. I have an appointment to take my car in on Monday so I'll let you know how it goes.

My Bluetooth outages have been absolutely consistent almost like clock work. The Bluetooth will work over the weekend from Friday to Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon it stops connecting and will not reconnect until Friday afternoon. I thought it may have to do with usage, but I was on vacation last weekend and didn't use the car, got back on Tuesday. It worked in the morning and quit in the afternoon. Worked again Friday afternoon through the next Tuesday. It is very bizarre. Seems like it's linked to the clock phone's clock/calendar.

Will let you know how it goes on Monday, actually Wednesday to see if it is really working,

I performed a recover and then cleared cache. It worked for me.

    I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4

That worked for me for about 4 days, then the pattern repeated. Good luck with it. I hope Sprint is better than Verizon has been.

Toyota sent me the following link to update my in car audio:
    https://securedp.toyota.com/download-app/toyotaHeadUnits

So far so good. It updated the in-car audio from 3.2.0 to 5.1.0. The android app entune has been updated to Version 1.16.403.43-34ee755-release400. Verizon updated the galaxy s4 operating system to 5.0.1. All in the past 2 weeks.

The link that i posted dealt directly with bluetooth problems and fixes in the Prius. I hope that this helps,

Link is the same link that I used to upgrade to Entunes 5.1.

The update worked for about a day and now it seems to be back in the same pattern. It may be time for a new phone for me.

My Bluetooth connection is back to stable condition. I have been connected for at least 8 days now.

@George Christ I know you already tried the recover mode clear cache scenario.

I say you try it again. Do this after you have unpaired phone and car bluetooth.

After doing so, restart phone and pair it again with your car.

When you see allow text messages, click do not show again and click cancel. Somewhere I read that allowing text messages makes the bluetooth connection unstable.

Try it. Might just work for you. This is what I did and so far so good.

Thank youi Xterra72. I'll give it a try. Verizon sent me a new S4 yesterday and this one won't connect at all. Pretty bad luck with this update as it worked flawlessly with Kitkat. I'll try your suggestion and if that doesn't work, I think it's probably time for a new phone.

So far on my AT&T S4 all is well after updating to the 3.2.0 in-car. I did the Android update to the ver. you have a few days ago and it still seems to be working well with the Car display/audio/Bluetooth connection.
NOTE: I was interested in the 5.1.0 update to the in-car unit that you mentioned so I went in to my dealer today and asked about it. The dealer said that he would be happy to do the update for me but toyota pulled the update due to problems with it and they will be re-issuing it soon.
My point being that this could be the reason you are still having problems.

Xterra 72, do you still have a stable connection? I finally gave up on my s4 and got note 4. Is having exactly the same issues. I did add you suggest with pairing again. And canceling the screen with text import prompt. That may have worked but I haven't had any drives longer than 5 minutes since I reconnected to verify it. Will update soon. Trying to keep a level head, but this is beyond frustrating!

Still good on my end. Good luck. Hope it becomes stable soon.

Thanks. By not syncing my texts, the connection has become stable. This is a good solution for now as I can listen to music and use the hands free phone. But not receiving texts is a pain. I'll wait for Toyota to issue a fix for the 5.1.0 update. Xterra72, you still do not receive texts, correct?

I have not really tested it but last time I synced it I did not allow text. It's been working so I have kept the settings the same. I am not willing to loose 95% of my bluetooth functionality for text messages.

No problem. Give us an update maybe a few weeks from now and let us know if it stays connected. Good luck.

It's been a couple of weeks and I'm still connected. I just have no access to texts, but everything else works. I hope that there is an update that will address this, otherwise, I'm pretty happy. Thanks xterra72 for the suggestion.
