Chap is referring to the smoke emitted at the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, when a new pope is selected.

I assume that you meant a popping noise, and it is possible you have an exhaust system leak upstream from the muffler.

It may be the remains of some oil left and its just burned out. Better monitor your oil level.is there a trail of white smoke when you drive or only when you start driving?
IF you didnt change the rings than just be patient and monitor it

I had a used engine from a 2012 with 80,000 miles and tranny put in. I think it is a loose or maybe broken engine mount. Cause it only happens from a start and when driving it does not happen. Otherwise, the ac compressor is very noisy seems like im going to be do for a new one soon. But, at least that is a repair i can do and the ac is functioning normally. The creek happens regardless of the Ac and from a complete start. There was a burning smell, but went away when a huge summer shower came. MPG is back to normal 41 with a Ave of 45 mph and A/C we are going through a heat wave in socal.

I don't understand your post. Your post #201 indicates what the dealership did. The part number is for a cylinder head gasket and valve cover gasket.

It may be that the computer takes a while to adapt after a full refresh. I have driven 300 miles since I got the car. Another thing to consider is that A/C usage kills mpg in short trips. In my 2013 I average 35ish during the 100 deg weather we have been getting.

This might seem like a dumb question but why would the AC need a recharge? No need to remove the compressor from the car for a motor removal.

Did he use the correct refrigerant?

I have been wondering the same thing. The a/c compressor is very noisy. Time will tell if it fails within a couple of weeks. I wanted the engine and tranny removed and replaced as one unit. The computer seems happy and the car drives okay. Minus a noise that sounds like something is loose my guess is a engine mount kinda a pop noise or cracking. Any ideas? You drive from Palmdale that is at least a 2 hour drive and there is no way to avoid the traffic. I took the mountain road to the 210 and even then it was a long drive.

I know that the "hybrids" use a different refrigerant due to the electric compressors. If ur guy used reg refrigerant then this might explain the noises u are hearing.

Wish I would have known u we're looking for an engine. I've got 2:

    '12 Prii motor & tranny w/ 17k miles
    '12 Lexus CT200h motor & tranny w/24k miles

I'm use to the drive. Been doing it for 5+ years now

AFAIK the refrigerant is the usual, BUT the lubricating oil is unique/special, and substitution with the usual oil can damage the system.

The oil used in the compressor is nd-11 oil. Anything else is a no no.

But I believe must people just charge with straight 134A refrigerant. Oil is not needed

danlatu, do you have a list of parts and brands and/or part number that you bought?
I'm going to do head gasket on my 2010 and want to know what I should order.
My current list is head gasket, copper spray, head bolts, crank seal(?) etc.?
    Thanks.

How many miles on your Prius? Do you have an oil consumption issue as well?
