Aircraft spark plugs with dual gaps are still being sold: The ones I was using in the SAAB were the same, but just had 3 evenly-spaced ground electrodes around the base instead of 2. Believe what you will, but these dual and triple ground electrode spark plugs do resist fouling more than the equivalent single ground electrode type. (That quality becomes very important when you have exactly 1 ICE with only 4 cylinders turning the propeller.)
Let me settle this, many have used better spec’d plugs from all walks; best mpgs, performance, and even cheap priced plugs. They all noticed lower than usual mpgs, once they went back to oem, mpgs were restored. I rarely stick to oem but this one I’m at the mercy of mpgs and go with oem.
That may very well be true. But that is NOT what the previous post said. "Resisting fouling" is quite different than "having another electrode available when the first one fouls out".
Anyone have an opinion or comment on this type of plug? Not for our cars, but in general. I had a boat that used these. On one hand it seems like a good idea. On the other... not so much.
if the engine combustion chamber is designed for it: ok / using this kind of spark plug in a prius engine: not a good idea.... /
