No, it went to pay for the flowers and that kite! It was a HIGH flier, they don't come cheap! The Sci-Fi Channel does not come cheap and they seem to be running it on every major show multiple times a day! Can you say HIGHER COST!
Ok that does it! If I survive this cancer crap, and can figure out a way to afford it, I'm trading in my 2005 for a 2010! The takeover of Dictionary.com was the last straw!
I'm looking forward to seeing the new Gen III Prius on every police investigation type show on TV. Will Myth busters get one? NCIS, Cold Case, Law & Order, Law & Order SVU, etc. I think I just saw a Gen II Prius on a glass repair ad. Only about 12,000 Prius on the road in Australia so that isn't a bad coincidence, or is it?
My point EXACTLY! While it's cute to see that the prius is on the "solar" page, how many people of car driving age will have to look up the meaning or spelling of solar? What is the point?
What if I told you that when you put people in and around the car, you put a stake in the ground for shoppers? It says, "we think the driver should look like this, do you agree?" That is what consumer reviewers get hung up on.... if the people in the commercial are not like them, they get uncomfortable. Of course, you can do it right by picking talent that fits EXACTLY your target. But when you're going broader, not having a driver and allowing the viewer project their own image into the car often works better. Do I buy the above completely? No, but there is some merit in it. Now, I'd like to say one other thing. I can guarantee you that we are not targeting the "green pre-school crowd". We know far too much about Prius, the market, and potential buyers for us to do that. If that's your impression of the commercials, IMHO, it is only your opinion. Note also there are many other people whose opinions are very different about the ads. "best online advertisement... ever!" ??? Really? Ever? Me thinks some of my forum mates need to come up for air.
Prius Takes Over Dictionary.com’s Home Page With help from advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi, the car maker is working with Dictionary.com for ads targeted to the definitions of words such as “sustainability,†“green†and “moonroof.†Those keyword-based ads launched last week, but Prius also took over the online dictionary’s home page Wednesday and Thursday, with another two-day takeover planned for July. Dictionary.com has also included Prius ads in its word-of-the-day emails, which reach 1.3 million subscribers. ... “All of a sudden, Toyota Prius becomes synonymous with ‘futuristic,’†said Tom Sipple, vice president of advertising sales at Dictionary.com, a unit of IAC/InterActiveCorp. This is the first time that the site has displayed advertising in such a way, and the venture has sparked interest among other marketers interested in word-search-based ads. Toyota’s choice of word pairings reflect how the company sees its Prius brand. “‘Motivation,’ ‘positive,’ ‘optimism’ — these aren’t things Toyota would buy on a keyword campaign, but when you look up the definition of these words, those are the emotional aspects of the brand that they’re associated with,†said Doug Leeds, Dictionary.com’s president.
