Following is my record of 32km/L (75.3mpg) for 80km/h (50mph) highway cruising 479km (298miles). Ken@Japan
Well no records ... but no "cheating" either ... just everyday driving. First was a quick trip about 130km (4 adults and beach stuff in rear) and then some running around in town before I filled up Equates to 67.2 mpg U.S. and here is what I did for the tank .. Or 61.89 mpg U.S. However in calculation it worked out to 57.93 mpg. a 6.84% diff when calculated from the L/100km numbers. Not bad all in all as I run the AC in auto prob 90% of the time, and run in ECO about 85%, with a bit of PWr just for fun. Tires are set to 40 psi cold. One thing I haven't been able to wrap my head around yet is why the huge swings in % diff in display and calculated mileage?? I have had a tank @ -2.3% and one 13% and lots in-between (see mileage stats in link below). In average it works out to be about the "normal" 5-6%. Oh well ... small matter in the big scheme of things. Enjoy your day & Prius
The only cheating here is taking money out of the oil companies pockets and i am all for that. There was a lot of complaints Over the small increase in performance from gen 2 to to gen 3. Looks like that Will not be an issue this time around. Another thing to keep in mind, i think many of you would be surprised if you knew what performance your prius got on a daily basis. It is relatively easy To get 70 2 75 miles per gallon on segments of your daily commute in this is not a while changing elevations. What we need to understand Is the penalty everytime we touch our brakes. Just tapping the brakes can reduce your performance 2-3 miles per gallon on a short commute. So tapping the brakes 10 * Instead of 5 * Is a difference between 70 miles per gallon And 55 per gallon. Most of the super high performance statistics Happen when stops are eliminated. Now most of us don't have that opportunity But all of us could Drive a lil bit more Aware which includes Timing lights. Etc droid X
Nobody really cares about MPG over a few miles. We really only look at MPG over a full tank (300+miles). At least when you want to start bragging anyway.
Sorry about that. My 32km/L (75.3mpg) for 80km/h (50mph) record was only 479km (298 miles), lack of 2 miles from your expected distance. Ken@Japan
