Not necessarily. I have a lot more faith in Toyota's engineering than the Leaf's. And, your temperatures have been nothing compared to Arizona's
The nig time temps are more of an indicator of a potential problem than daytime highs.

does anybody know if the pip really won't charge until batteries drop below a certain temp?

Did you look at the apartment's Electric Bill and calculate the added cost to charge the PIP?
You should find that it's a lot less than $15 and you could negotiate a new cost to you.

 

Funny you should mention that! Got the proposed budget submitted to Hud. The total average cost per KWH is .09 cents. He's charging me .16 cents per kwh!

 

Don't forget the act of recharging generates heat.

Reach into the underneath storage immediately after recharging on a cool evening. It's warmer than you think.

Of course, that's a bit of magic for those of us in the north. We'll see a direct benefit from that in the winter.
