Thanks Nate. I look forward to the information and when I do get it I will get on the Prius stick and get them ordered. It will be an interesting adventure.

Okay, here is the response on the mirrors. I recommend you refer to the parts the same way I did, by referring the to the item numbers on each web page.

    Dear Nate,
Unfortunately I do not even know the parts number for these parts.
But I would quote them for your friend if you can let him know my E-mail
    address.

    Best Regards,
    KOJI

I like most of those products on the Dress and Functional pages. It would cost me about 2k usd.. if i calculated it all up right. all i need now is 2k.. and i'm pretty sure some of those items do not work together.. or do they?.. hmm

Quickster, keep us informed with your results. As far as tapping in the wiring for turn signal, you are going to need to push the wires for the turn signal through the boot to get from the door to the body. I suggest you do them one at a time (remove the connector) and use wire lubricant. This is commonly available at Home Depot, it is designed for just such a purpose. (It is designed not to damage the insulation and to dry completely, leaving no problematic residue like grease would).

Also, as far as tapping into the wiring for the turn signal, it is possible that Toyota left the connector on the harness inside the fender well just behind the wheel. If they did, that would certainly simplify the connection. If not, you will need to find a place in the harness to splice. This will be challenging, and you should try to splice inside the vehicle, safe from exposure to the elements. I'll see if I can help you with this by looking at the wiring diagram.

Another issue, the flasher may flash too slowly because there is too much load. If the flasher is traditional style, these are all the same form factor, very cheap to buy, and plug right in. If not, a good cheat would be to replace one of the bulbs on each side with a low draw LED. If we are really lucky, the lights in the mirrors might already be LED, in which case this is a non-issue.

If I recall correct the installer told me tap the wire from fender turn signal

I dont know what Toyota dealer did, but now mine flash slightly faster than before

    Nate,

Since I do plan on keeping my Prius for many years, and also like having owner manuals and tech manuals for my cars, where is a good source for the wiring diagrams and other Prius specific references?

Are these available from Toyota, I am sure for a price, or some place online?

    Thanks much,

Speedracer, we don't have a fender turn signal here in the US (All the more reason to want turn signal mirrors!) I am hoping the connector is still there, but I doubt it.

This tells me the lights in the mirrors are likely LED's. This is good news for USA, since we shouldn't have to change the flasher to achieve the same flash rate. For you, you may wish to change the flasher to slow down the signals to the proper rate. Ask your dealer if one came in the kit that they forgot to install.

My wife called me last night and informed me that my new side marker lighted outside mirrors had arrived from Japan. When I am home for Christmas, the last three weeks in December, I should be able to install them. She told me that look pretty cool and came with lots of instructions, all in Japanese. They actually arrived in only two weeks after I finally got the order placed.

Soon as I get them installed I will post pictures.
