Auto Day/Night GPS at night too dark to show roads

It's now in March 2015, and I brought my car to the dealer for the 25000 mile maintenance. It has developed some strange problems now that I posted separately. One of which is that you cannot change back and forth between the music and the map. But again, it is not 100% of time. When I brought it to the dealer yesterday, the technicians could not return to the music screen from the map no matter what. So they ordered the new "radio" unit. They think that that may fix the dark GPS problem. Well let's see...
