OK.....let's go back to basics for a minute. Does anybody know for SURE that the "pre-collision warning system" actually includes automatic braking on any models ?? I'm a bit skeptical because in the past 5 years or so, I don't remember it being brought up even ONCE before.
It has been brought up many many times. You either missed those particular threads, or forget them. From the 2020 Prime Owner's Manual: Earlier forms of PCS go back to at least the 2010 Prius (certain trims only):
Main points I've gotten so far. 1:rear ending - totaled Prime - no damage to vehicle that was hit - slight discomfort but will be OK 2 don't know if insurance includes replacement costs 3 Auto brake didn't stop the Prime in Time to avoid rear ending. 4 Would rather have Prime repaired than totaled 5 Want more EV range, which cars if any are better than the Prime 6 Heavy slow moving traffic but I may have been going fast ...... 7 Only offered $22k from insurance 8 Don't know what settings pre collision feature was set at. 9 Looks like I misread this as can be seen in #6 but still how is anyone supposed to be able to respond with the amount of relevant data provided about the accident so far? Mostly what you hit and why you hit it. Yeah I heard, the Auto Brake feature didn't stop you in time to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of you, or have I misread the main point(s) of your thread?
Some or all of TSS 1 is deactivated under 27 MPH by default as can be seen in a message on the MID Toyota Safety Sense
