The TSB is for 2008 and earlier models. The TSB indicates a new part number for the replacement, so presumably they made a small improvement in the part which later model years would have from the factory.

Not saying your CHS pump isn't misbehaving, but it could be something else.

Regardless, assuming your car's mileage hasn't exceeded warranty limitations, I still would take it to the dealership for evaluation of the noise.

Before i decide to phone toyota i had a question...

My water pump is incredibly noisy in cold weather, doing the whine i heard in the audio clip, it only starts at +4C and below. It has not been much colder yet so i cannot comment on startup but i do expect it to be much much much colder very soon. This however is the second pump i believe. I bought this car used and at 26,705km the pump was replaced, the code is 129-HV EL Waterpump. I am now at 34,000km...

Is this the correct pump and if so is this something that would still be covered(or i should argue)? Also what if they tell me not to worry about it, is that valid or do you guys think i should be worried?

My 2006 Prius in Canada, with the squeaky pump, was never recognized as a "problem" by the dealer here. They refused the TSB I had printed, saying it was US only.

Changed for the 2010 Prius...problem solved!

I don't know if that was intended at me. But that in no way, shape or form helps me. I am not getting rid of my car, it would be cheaper to just pony up the $400 for a new pump installed. It would actually be cheaper than the hassle of searching for a car, registration etc.

Nick, your water pump that was already replaced was for the inverter cooling system, rather than the one that you are having a problem with. TSB or not, it is a powertrain warranty item, whatever that may be in Canada -- 5 years, 100,000km? I think both you and Mark timed out on the warranty. Mark, you should review the Gen III boards for known faults for 2010 to have them corrected on your new car for free before basic warranty coverage expires.

Even here in Arizona mine does that ( AKA mine has been doing it since I got it, summer (100+ degrees) and now about 70 degrees. I always wondered what that noise was. I have 80k miles and it's an 06, I'm also not the first owner, so I guess it's not covered right?

My pump is noisy ALL of the time, cold ambient temps or not.

My 5/60 warranty expired 8-22-12. Do you guys think Toyota would cover it as a goodwill since Im just out of my warranty coverage AND there is a TSB out acknowledging the problem?
