I was using my Ipod last night and could not expand on my original point. The point was that the G37 is a good sports car, BUT that has nothing to do with our discussion. You calling it a good sports car is like me calling my Prius a good commuter car...with equal value. Whether it is a good sports car or not is NOT the point. (And yes, i like the G37 quite a lot!)

The BMW 328i, after looking it up this AM, has a MSRP of $33650 for a base model with no options. It ONLY has dynamic cruise...for a whopping $2400. So, this already puts it out of prius Five ATP price range. But, again, this does NOT include LKA, pre-collision, and self-park! So, the BMW should not even be in this conversation because: #1 it is beyond the Prius Five price range; and #2 it does not even come close to what ATP offers!

Lincoln may offer park assist...but that is all that they offer! No radar cruise, no pre-collision, and no LKA...in ANY of their models.

So, basically, as of today, to get what the Prius Five with ATP has, you need to spend AT LEAST $10,000+ easily...and that is IF YOU WANT TO STAY IN TOYOTA FAMILY. If you want to go elsewhere, then you have to spend way more!!

My guess is that the CT200h with ATP stuff will be extremely rare to find (as is the case with HS250h with ATP and ES350 with Pre-collision)...and the pricing will be closer to $45k than it is to $40k. (And in the ES350, to get pre-collsion, most of the time, you also have to get the Ultra-lux package and ML/NAVI...so, right there, the price is around $48k.)

Actually, for better comparison, i would use Tissot (Toyota/Prius) and Omega (Lexus) analogy. :D (Tissot and Omega are under the same parent company...and both are mass production companies. Blancpain, which is Swatch top company, only makes handmade watches of the highest order...so, it is like the Lexus LFA, but not like the rest of the Lexus lineup.)

Many of Seiko watches (Grand Seiko and Spring Drive for example) far exceed both the technological and price range of Raymond Weil. Seiko is a big time hitter from any watch enthusiast viewpoint...they make good stuff!

    Ok, i know...i am a freaking geek!:(

But, Ford/Lincoln still has not offer adaptive cruise, PCS, nor LKA on any of the cars/SUVs/trucks. From almost everyone's perspective here (who owns ATP), the park assist is the LEAST valued part of the ATP package...the other stuff is what makes it special.

We weren't talking about something that was a hybrid, just something that has the features of the ATP.

Anyways even the Hybrid is not "4 times" the cost of a Prius V with ATP.

I'm impressed you could type as much as you did on the iPod lol.

I didn't really mean it like that, my point was really that the cars aren't comparable at all, you're getting a lot of positives with the G37 you aren't getting with the Prius for that $9k, from a "features" standpoint the question is how much money do you have to put out for those features. You aren't just paying $9k for the G37 just because...you get more performance for that money. I wasn't really trying to compare them.

LOL, I just thought of two watchmakers one who was lower end, and one who was higher end. I don't know much about watches.

See, we can have a conversation without killing each other LOL

No LKA, but they do have adaptive cruise and PCS on all the vehicles I mentioned.

Oh I don't doubt that (but definitely not 4x the cost).

In Canada, the next car up the Toyota/Lexus family with DRCC/PCS is the Sienna Limited at Cdn$50k. If you want a hybrid with that, you go to the RX450h w/ the Ultra Premium Package 2 at $72k which also gets you the HUD, WideView front camera and LED headlights. It's also the lowest-priced Lexus in Canada to offer those features. I think the US has DRCC/PCS as a stand-alone option (special order too the last I heard) on the ES350 but no dice in Canada. It's not even offered on the standard RX350.

A Prius with the Tech Pack (Solar Roof but no LKA or LED headlights or 17" alloys) is Cdn$37k so we're looking at 2x the cost.

    Aww you guys  haha.

Yeah, you can get it as a special order on the ES, the DRCC and the PCS. I have never seen one with it though.

I understand, but we're talking about ATP. From a greenie (i am not one BTW), the Prius is $9k cheaper AND has more features for what the greenie wants (e.g. fuel economy, less emissions, etc.). So, what you wrote about getting "more" of a car is not really the point nor does it apply to everyone. I could have gotten the G37, but i did not because i did not want a sports car on my daily commute. Thus, although, G37 may be a better "value" to YOU, it is not to everyone else, including me. And the fact that the Prius can be had with ATP for $9k less is a BIG bonus to me (and a few other folks).

Exactly, what you see in a brochure may not apply to real life. You can "special order" one, but that will destroy any haggling power on your end...basically, you end up paying MSRP. With the Prius Five ATP, there are enough out there that you can play games with the dealer to get them to come down on price. This is why i hate to special order anything or get it shipped from another dealership.

BTW, i look all over lincoln website, i don't see any mention of adaptive cruise nor pre-collision stuff. I only see the self-parking feature. Did i miss it??

A pity. You'd think it'll be a great feature for a car like the ES that's made for cruising on the highway.

I've never special ordered a car because there has never been anything that a packaged model had or didn't have that I felt so strongly about I'd wait 6 months...but I have bought a couple cars they've had to trade with another dealer for. Never had any problem negotiating a great deal on any of them. My Lexus was 1,500 less than dealer invoice and they got it from a dealer in PA.

My wife is funny about that though, she cares more about gizmos than basically anything else about a car. We're shopping for an SUV to replace the Prius at some point...looking at the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. I would buy a Laredo X model or a Limited model with nav, the V6 and call it a day. She "has to have" radar cruise, the quadra lift adjustable suspension...when she never even drives on the highway, I drive on all our trips, and the thing will likely never go offroad. To get those features you have to get an Overland Summit for $10,000 more...

She would order something and wait 6 months just to get a feature she'd never use.

Quadra lift is nice, but can be a painful headache down the road. I have never met a reliable & durable air suspension...and that includes those from Lexus. That was one nice thing about my G-wagen that was different from all the other high-end SUVs...it has good old coil springs and Bilstein shocks. Sure, the ride was not flawless nor could it cheat the wind by lowering itself at highway speed, but i know for damn sure that it will work when i go off-roading.

Why not get her into a 4runner Limited? Or even a Lexus GX460? Base on your guys needs, these two should be plenty good...and you know that it is more reliable.

And if you don't care too much about durability, then why not a Mercedes GLK? From beginning surveys, it is a pretty good reliable SUV. It is super solid, top crash rating scores, and is compact enough for most folks...and the ride comfort is very good. My brother is shopping for one of these...and he is a classic Honda/Toyota fanboy! :D One testdrive and he is hooked on the GLK!

Yeah I agree, I've always passed on air suspension setups. I can't see us having whatever we buy longer than 4-5 years but still.

I don't care for the 4 Runner, too square looking IMHO, and the room in the back seat is not great. The GX is a beautiful vehicle, but too expensive.

They're nice too, but kinda small. I did test drive a couple of CPO ML350s...

Our budget is around $40k MSRP.

Very happy with mine. I love DRCC, like LKA, and don't have much use for parking assist.

I am ecstatic I love it glad I got the V with everything I could get here. I could not get LKA or the SOS Safety Connect, they are unavailable here. I use the DRCC everyday I love the fact that it will slow the car all the way down to the engagement threshold. It is very good at keeping speed and distance. I only use the APGS when I have the time or as a party trick. I have had the PCS activate once during driving due to an uneven bridge expansion joint, it was very impressive. In an instant the seat belt retracted and the car applied the brakes and started to stop, as soon as it realized there was no obstacle in the way just uneven road it was back to normal operation.

And you can add the lowly Ford Focus to cars with the park assist feature.

But, it still does not have the whole package. I think that ATP will be avail in more cars, cheaper cars in the future as this technology has been proven to save lives. Still, at this moment, the Prius remains the value champ with this technology...by a wide margin in cash! :)
