So, this happened: Press Release - TOYOTA INTRODUCES APPLE CARPLAY®/ANDROID AUTO™ ON SELECT VEHICLES
Retrofit available, but only on 2019s? Wonder is they could go back to 2017... how different are they?
If the 2019 can be retrofitted, the 2017 should be able to be retrofitted. Same head unit as far as I know. I'd be one of the first in line for this.
I have two iPhones as well (work is 7, personal is XS Max), I’m wondering how you toggle between phones to receive calls? I haven’t synced my work iPhone because I didn’t think I could use both. Is it automatic when there are two synced phones in the vehicle?
Australia uses a different headunit than the U.S. so I don't know how viable it is but it's worth asking the dealer.
There are a number of video online showing a DIY upgrade of the mustang to CarPlay. Eventually I wonder if it's as simple as swapping out the USB on the Prime and doing a system update? Heres a link to one of the mustang videos:
Well I was really excited until I saw it was for Australia and not the USA. My dealer still says it is impossible to upgrade a 2019 in the US with CarPlay. If anyone hears otherwise I’d love to hear!
First, I have a ‘14 Plug in Prius, not a Prime (yet), so I am sure this is a bit different. The PiP allows for up to 5 phones to be paired to the car at any time, but only one active. So, if a call comes in on your non-connected phone, you simply press the Phone button, and there is a “Connect Phone” button allowing you to switch the paired phone any time. It take about 3-4 seconds to switch phones, so if you do it as soon as the phone rings, it usually allows enough time to switch then pick up the call. Or just answer and hit the Speaker button and tell your caller to hang on a moment while you switch. Not sure if the Prime works in a similar way...?
This is helpful, thanks!! I’ll have to give it a try... go sit in my driveway with the car running and have friends call my phones
