Total cost is $700 since I got back my 30% from the Feds already... The unit is $999 at Lowes and my boss is a licensed electrician so he did the install for me free, and free is always a good thing! This evse is a 30A. It won't help charge the PiP faster than 1.5 hours, same as the Leviton 16A one, but at least I have a larger one for down the road should I upgrade when the Gen IV's come out.
Thanks. Free is certainly good. At this time the Leviton is fine for us. If I ever need to upgrade it's just a 30A breaker and the new charger. In time they will probably come down in price. I was late for the tax credit. Well done.
I asked about doing a similar thing and was told that I would probably have to upgrade the existing wiring and conduit to go from a 20A circuit to a 30A or 40A circuit. Which is beyond of the scope of the basic install that the $1000 price covers. I tried to to get the contractor to let me know what it would cost to upsize the circuit, but he didn't seem to know.
My dealer (Piercey, Milpitas, SF Bay Area) just called to say that they expect my PiP to delivered to them and be ready for pick-up Thursday (March 1).
No. All I know is that it is in the very first batch the dealership will receive. So probably it was on the first ship out (New Century 2?). The dealership is about 50 miles south of Benicia.
Mine is being delivered to Putnam Toyota in Burlingame and was on the Eminent Ace. Salesmen said I'd probably get mine the week of March 5th.
I'm getting eager. Look at what I just saw...here is one in all it's glory. I think it is Sea Glass Pearl.....Love that new car smell... I liked the color so much now I am wondering if I messed up by ordering the blue one....
That's the first posted picture of a 2012 production PiP in the US (at least posted here) Was there a window sticker on it?
Sweet! I saw in the lobby of Toyota --at their corporate headquarters in Torrance. Do I get a prize? There is also one of the smaller, low end ones there as well that looks new (non plug in) in a pretty ugly looking orange color (at least to me).. want a pic of that as well? I was able to sit in it and everything!
They may still not be production versions if they were in the Torrance HQ, they've had pre-production units for a while now... The smaller one in orange (Habanero) was the Prius c.
However -- they just showed up on the floor on Monday. So I'm thinking these came off the boat...any way I can tell based on the door sticker? I'll snap a pic when I go back down there to see manufacture date...
The Pip on display at Toyota HQ are Prototypes. First production ones are headed straight to our customer's hands! Best, Erica
Darn... awful pretty though... Here is the manufacturing information...looks like it was built in September of 2011.
Nice looking install! The 30% Fed deal has already expired, correct? Also, I already have a 220V 30A clothes dryer electrical outlet in my garage that I'm not using since I have a gas dryer. Can I just plug the G.E. unit directly into that?
Thanks for tryin' anyway.. Got everyone all excited for a minute there Actually, I was thinking, "Wth? They'll put a PiP in the showroom before they even call their preorder customers?!".. I'm sure I wasn't alone
Staten Island Toyota in Staten Island, NY. My fathers car is going there as well and I think maybe 2-3 others in the area used them. The guy I know there said someone from Florida used them to have theirs shipped as well. I guess he's one of those NY snowbirds...
