anyone else decided to buy prius II?

I bought package II, but now I'm thinking of getting an ebay in-dash 7" gps nav/ dvd/ bluetooth/ cd/ backup camera for under $500. sounds like the perfect solution, if it works. (won't let me link, do a search you can find a lot of these)

any have thought about or have used them?

 

We have a 2010 Prius II on order, red with bisque. It was a bit of a dilemna between the II, III, and IV. We like the leather seats, but the cost of them is quite a bit more than other vehicles we have purchased in the past. Plus, you can get some nice car seat covers for way less than the price of the leather pkg.

Also, the upgraded audio in the III seemed overpriced as well. We listened to the II and the III and there wasn't a significant difference, at least not $1000 worth for us.

So, going with the II was the way to go for us.

I guess it just depends on what it is worth to you!

I just picked up my silver/misty grey Prius II yesterday from Toyota of Fort Worth for MSRP and NO add'l fees. I had window tinting and carpet mads added only. I LOVE the car and really enjoyed learning to "listen/read" to the car as I drove it app. 100 miles yesterday.

We opted for the II as it has all the major conveniences (SKS, cruise, air, etc.). Whereas I do find the AT options and of course, the sunroof, to be cool, I couldn't see paying the premium for this (nor could we really afford it!). I commend Toyota for building a solid base-model car that is affordable and a lot of fun to drive (I know they are introducing the true base model later this year, but I don't consider cruise control an option, so it would be a no-go)!!

Happy to be a first-time Prius hybrid owner and expect to remain one for a VERY long time!!

 

I check this thread out every once in a while to see who is actually crazy enough to talk themselves into buying a New old Pruis. The deprecation of the car when you drive it off the lot should be enough to scare most people away.it just goes to prove a point that still has me scratching my head over. It's beyond reason.. It depends how long the brand new car is kept for, if it's kept for many years it won't matter whether it's a Gen II or a Gen III.

 

I believe you are confusing the Gen2 with the Gen3 Package II. The OP was referring to a Gen3 with Package II.

 

We bought a III with Nav, and my father in law bought a II with no options other than the handsfree bluetooth and alarm.

Having spent time with both cars, I definitely like our higher optioned car better. The Nav in our III is far better than the Garmin Nuvi we were previously using, and the handsfree is far nicer than the one he is using in the II.

However, if we hadn't found a III with the packages we wanted, I certainly would not have turned down buying a II. It's a great car no matter what options it has.

 

I bought a generation III Prius II (model) and I believe this is what this thread references. Also, if you checked the pics in my posting, you would have seen it is a gen III.

 

Purchased a 2010 Prius with package 2 for the reason you mentioned. I had a 2003 & 2005 Prius and Toyota has made some improvements to 2010. 2009 is a great auto but the rear camera while nice for some people is just one more item the break and the repair is expensive. From my view point, the camera is something I will never miss. In Minnesota, the 2009 Prius are more expensive than the 2010 even with the rebate &/or discount except if you take the zero percent financing from Toyota offered only for the 2009 in Minnesota.

The car came with Toyota's Bluetooth addition but with standard audio system. From what I can ascertain, you can not have hands-free system with the system and any cell phone. I have a second generation iPhone and it will pair with Toyota's Bluetooth and you can receive call/send calls but dialing out using the last number dialed on the iPhone. For me a minor inconveince since if I wanted to have all the extra features in the higher packages, I would have purchased package 3 or 4. The navigation system in my mind is very over priced and the Garmin system works well for me & is portable.
