All our fast food places put a metal pole that keeps you parked a mile from the window, I usually turn in so my mirror clears and pin the kneedle to get close enough to deposit my cash and grab my food, When leaving there is usually another pole I have to steer tightly so my mirror doesn’t hit. I don’t think it will be any different with the Aptera, just gotta steer in after the front wheel clears the pole
The Aptera looks like an electric Slingshot: Open-Air Roadster - 3 Wheel Motorcycle | Polaris with a cabin and gullwing? doors. I have to admit when first looking at a car with 3 wheels I'm not typically interested in digging deeper into it's specs. But my first thought when I saw the picture in the post above was "that things looks like it would fly if they put wings on it".
True - though I was thinking of a small car like a YARIS/PRIUS c size - with a very small boot to start with.
how apropos - that you should find that Aptera looks like it could fly. Apterra has been trying to " get off the ground" now for over a decade. always a bridesmaid, never a bride
That's probably because to most people, in this country anyways, it's not quite a car and it not quite a motorcycle, either. Just an efficient? tricycle. Kinda like it should take off and land like most other smallish planes.
Aptera is very interesting to me. There’s no question that smaller, lighter, and lower drag is a recipe for efficiency. The killer downside is that it will be legally classified as a motorcycle in most, if not all, states, and require occupants to wear helmets while driving. I follow Sandy Munro a little bit on YouTube. One thing he said, regarding Aptera, is that the three-wheel configuration is the only way to get around the regulatory crash-safety standards that make four-wheel cars so heavy. Aptera needs an exemption, or the creation of a new vehicle class, to get around the helmet problem. I like the design, but I’m not interested in wearing a helmet to drive a car.
Almost everyone was wrong with the 2022 Tundra changes...so I'm patiently waiting (but hoping they do have a pure EV model)
The Ford F-150 electric is about to hit the markets, Rivian has already begun production of their pickup, & the Hummer ev is about to go electric just after these folks. Tundra ev? We don't even seem to get the BZ electric that Toyota is going to sell to the rest of the world. So it's going to take more than patience. .
OK technically it may get here - maybe even this year .... but like prime Rav / limited amounts / in carb states primarily - marked up high - by stealerships. Chip shortages & all. great. Between the Rav & the BZ & trying to get ½ the options you require? For MSRP? great .
https://www.bmwblog.com/2022/02/22/toyota-manual-transmission-electric-vehicles/ Toyota may have found a way to use a cheaper motor, shiftable gears, could also be used to reduce pack voltage and complexity.
Just noticed this years model with 31 pics in a clickable slideshow. 2022 Morgan Super 3 4 days ago Photo Gallery
they can make a GR version or whatever they call the sportier corolla. I’d say the passing power is so low that it’s dangerous. Now zipping around town it’s amazing. Power mode works good enough to pass on city streets or pull ahead from stop lights merge over for turns.
How bad is it, driving an underpowered vehicle on the LA area freeways these days? About the same as it's always been? Or getting worse?
