I've been reviewing these options to decide how to configure my new 2017 Prime.

What is the "smart access button" that can be configured to open the trunk?

I bought a carista a while ago just to disable the reverse beeping .

Does it anything more since last year?

Any chance it can be used to change the outside and climate control temperature units?

I didn't notice that it has an option to change the units.

I have been thinking about ordering the Carista for my Prius. I have been reluctant to do so. I was hoping a local friend would have already bought it and I could borrow theirs. But no such luck. I have some Amazon credit so I guess it is time to buy my own.
I want the window down feature the most.

In newer updates of Carista. Can you lower the volume of the Vehicle proximity Notification system?

It's not on listed on their site but I thought I saw it listed before?

I noticed that the pricing scheme for the Carista requires a subscription to do customization. Could I do a free trial (or the $9.99 one-week pass) simply to disable the reverse gear beeping, and then let the subscription lapse?

I.e., after I disable reverse gear beeping, will the change "stick" once the subscription lapses? And do I have to keep the device plugged in after I disable beeping?

Any changes you make do stick. And no, you don't have to keep the device plugged in.

The free trial didn't let you change anything when I tried it 4 years ago, it just let you see stuff, the one week pass does.
Get the one week pass, decide what you want to change and do it all in one go.

It maybe different for Gen4, but Carista App for 2020 Prius Prime did have the VPNS volume setting. I canceled the trial 30 days subscription but I was able to play with all the customization settings free. I bought the Carista adapter but the App now allows to be used with other OBDII adaptors and OBDLINK LX is one of them which I already have. I still have a brand new never used Carista adapter. Anyone interested, PM me. It will be yours for $15 plus whatever the postage to you.

These options for all 2016 and above? Or only for 2016? I'm wondering what customization can be done on my 2017 prius

Although I have never used it on Gen4, I think the customization available by Carista is same for all Gen4 model years. However, I have noticed that once you register the car and make subscription for the APP, you do have to specify model year and model of the car. If the subscription if for 2016 Gen4, then app would not work on 2017 Gen4, IIRC.

You can check what customization are available for Gen4 on here: Toyota Prius 4th gen | Carista OBD2 supported vehicles | See what’s available for your car - Carista

You mean you can't use it on multiple cars? I did that a few month ago. I wonder if they made a change.

I am sure you can use the free stuff on any vehicle the app support. I was thinking once you buy a subscription, the paid app was vehicle specific. But now, come to think of it. It was not the Casita App but was my OBDLink paid app. I had paid extra for OBDLink apps on specific PID for my previous 2017 Prius Prime, then when I switched my car to 2020 Prius Prime, the app did not work. I had to buy a new app specifically for the 2020 PP. I never used Carista on my previous 2017 Prime.

So, the question is, if you buy a subscription, does the paid portion of the app works on multiple cars while the subscription is good? I canceled my subscription after the 30 days free trial, so I can't test it.

I have a lifetime subscription to the Carista App.
