Another transmission problem ... please help

    Jiffy lube doesn't hire ASE Certified mechanics at the pay they offer. Why would you trust your car w a twerp? Only qualified mechanics touch my cars, ie, me.

    Jiffy sucks. I only let them change the oil bring them the exact amount and stand there and watch them. I would never ever let them touch the trans on my car. I stopped using them a few years ago.

    Find a locally owned repair shop that will let you watch what there doing and get under the car while there working. Its difficult to find that but there out there.

    The key to that is building a relationship and the way to build a relationship is money. If your a cheap douche and never tip anybody this wont work for you.

    I found a local garage a few years back family owned. First time I went there I duke'd the guy doing the oil change $20.
    He was a mechanic. His wife worked the counter. Nice guy.
    Next time I went they remembered me and got me right in I mean I was waved into the bay as I pulled up lol. Another $20 I also bought the guy a pepsi and I started talking to them about cars and was very nice. Next thing you know they let me go under the car up on the lift.

    Being able to get under your car when its on a lift is extremely important. 100 times more powerful then jacking the car up and looking.
    I take that time to lubricate the chassis's on my car sray lube linkage bearings bolts etc. I bring my own oil in exact quantity. I bring my own filter wench. I bring my own rear end oil. I bring my own trans fluid. Last time I was there I brought them a trans fluid pan with a dump bolt and 5 quarts of fluid. Took the guy 20 mins to swap the pan done deal. Its extremely easy for the guy. Think they charged me $40.
    It would have been and all day deal in my driveway and a huge mess. 1 year later they dumped the fluid for me using the dump bolt.
    Another $40. Cheap. Powerful.

    Oh and if you can get under there take as many pictures of the under carriage as you can.

    On a lift you can see how the car ages what's rusting what the suspension looks like whats leaking whats weeping how the tires look. How to take things apart. You can ask the guy questions abut things you don't understand. I own 2 cars. They have clued me in on lots of things.
    They know what certain cars suffer from as they age.

    I pay them cash and tip very well they know that when I roll in. They give me a good deal on everything and do a good job.
    The wife of the mechanic at the counter knows I just duke'd her husband and gives me a break on the labor.

    Cash does not give you a rash. $20 tip every time is chicken feed over the life of the car but is a powerful tool for you to use.
    And it is 1/10th of what you would pay at the dealer for better service and a free education.

    I have been doing this for as long as I remember. The result is I have never had a blown engine. Never had a failed transmission never had a failed rear end I have never seen the inside of a trans repair shop and the ac on my G2 is still ice cold. I stay after the ac regularly clean the condenser and the ecoil under the dash. I use the AC everyday.

    I have a G2 with 150,000 miles that runs perfect and does not use a drop of oil between oil changes.
