I can see one is the steering wheel button and antenna and neither will fit. I'm not sure what the other two are but I assume those are the ones I can ignore?

 

I have a 2012 and it is non JBL but previously had a touch screen.

 

I just hooked it all back together and it seems everything works in terms of the power and speakers. The steering wheel controls of course don't work but if I understand the previous posts, I need to look at http://priuschat.com/attachments/fig-1-jpg.48729/ and remove the wires from the first 2 plugs and splice them into the plug that did fit into the head unit? I took a picture of the back of mine and the only plug that fit from the Prius was the plug right below the fuses:

OK just to make sure, I will find 2 brown and 1 black from the wiring harness that came with the head unit.

How do I tell which of those correspond with the image Leo posted http://priuschat.com/attachments/fig-1-jpg.48729/ ?

I opened the HU last night since I put back factory HU for 10k maintenance today.

stupid 30mm fan that sounds like hair dryer. Gonna replace it with a silent 40mm fan when it comes in..i'll just use 1 screw to hold it in place.

top right is internal mic? i couldn't it get off. was planning to cut off connection to internal mic and use external instead.seller won't reply me so i'm out of luck for new module mic.

I am going to give it a shot here. Did the wires just pull right out of the connector and into the Prius connector OK? No splicing or butts needed? (Didn't appear so)

I made my own 28 pin harness with this New Axxess AX TOY28SWC SWC Add on Harness w RCA with 28 Pin Connector for Toyota | eBay to connect with factory connector. No splicing / butts needed.

it should be the red, green, and pink wire or someone else should verify it for you for 2012. Not sure if there's any difference between 2013.

 

Yes my color code is the same as you described. I believe what I am not getting is if I buy this harness where it is going. I've already pulled out the 2 brown and 1 black wire assuming it was going to be put in the 28 pin. However, it sounds like I need to buy this other harness but do what with it? I apologize for the dumb questions in advance but this wasn't what I had visioned

 

lol no worries. I didn't envisioned this neither. it's my first time working on a car too. If you buy the harness, you can transfer the pins( 2 brown and 1 black) over and that harness fits right into the factory 28 pin connector that u're holding. You don't have to do it if you want. I just do it b/c it's cleaner. totally up to you if you choose to t-tap the factory connector or whatever right now.
