That might be why manufacturers just offer safe colours. Easier to match order to specification.

Yeah some dealers do that but I think you can negotiate (either have them removed, thrown in for free or decline the cad and wait for the next one).

Canada is a bit closer to Europe. Yes there’s a bit of American influences but usually you can factory order the car if you want.

They are thinking this is for the home market. Outside of that, North America is the only 'large' market for the Prius, and that hasn't been big for several years. Then there is more profit in the SUVs.

That's cause Europe doesn't have the laws the US does that bans direct manufacturer car stores.

There are factory to dealer incentives and discounts that can allow dealers to sell at or below MSRP and still profit. Besides, US dealers make their money off the service department.

Heard Ford is buying out the franchises that don't want to sell EVs.

I watched the presentation live and I was impressed and also was wowed by the look of the vehicle. We have a 2021 Prime and we will very [possibly be ready to trade for a 2023 based on what we saw and reading about the changes made to the car.I love it hope it finally makes it to the US the way it was described.

Some dealers are direct manufacturer stores, sure, but all the ones, and there are plenty, I went to are private companies selling one or more brands. But they are certified third-party resellers getting their cars directly from the manufacturer and not a middle-man/distributor. They are essentially resellers for the car company (e.g., outsourced sales).
I would be happy already to just get a car at MSRP. The whole concept of mark-ups is just foreign to me in this type of market/type of purchase, especially when you go to a brand focused dealer (i.e., not to a general car seller).

Our Toyota dealer shows you what they have, what's coming in in approximate dates, and estimated build dates. We asked about Venza, about 9 months to get what we wanted. We went in looking for more room for lengthy trips, and came out with a 2023 Camry with all the bells and whistles. The full length panoramic roof, tilts an moves, but don't have that extra cool factor of the Venza's opaque change of tint. Not a single markup at this dealer on any vehicle. It's FCFS, buy it or lose it.

fyi ... if a road rock hits that cool factor changing tint? & it chips or cracks?
$5,600 just for parts. caveat emptor
    ;)
I've called a few of these dealerships. So far 2 out of 3 we've attempted to inquire through - add 'paint protectant' ... and/or threshold molding ... and/or ... floor mats ... etc.

It is the only way, it seems, to get free money from you without adding on the MSRP. I don't care for all of that stuff, I don't need it and I don't want it. How about I order a BTO and when you receive it, you give it to me at MSRP. Period.
