Most people use their phone as a wifi hotspot and link the dot to it. I have seen conflicting reports on how much data this uses--apparently when you play music it downloads 2 or 3 songs at a time, presumably to help with buffering issues so that could result in increased data usage.
Unless you have unlimited data usage, I can't see the point of streaming music in the car, when you have so many other options for music.
I think it's pretty common to stream Pandora, Spotify, etc in a car. The fact that cars now have apps built in for this make it seem pretty mainstream. We have a 25 gb/month family share plan so I'm not really worried about it, but just trying to make sure using the Dot this way doesn't result in greater than regular streaming usage.
I just got this. It recently launched. Let's see if it's any good. On a related note, I ordered this from Amazon US on Wednesday morning UK time, and it arrived by 4pm Friday.
Just checked on its functions outside North America for navigation and am a bit disappointed. It won't give Nav guidance in UK as per the guide below:- Garmin FAQ
