Album Art Prius Prime Advance

I see there's a 3rd party device from the company NAVIKS that sells some Toyota motion lock bypass relay, (around $200). I've read that it could be worth a try, however it's main purpose is to be able to play video/operate NAV while in motion.

I wonder why they have embedded options for the album art in the menu while you can only see it when you are parked + emergency brake on. I mean... who wants to go out and chill in their car and watch "album art" go by!

 

Just picked up a 2020 Prime XLE and I can confirm that this is still an issue. As silly as it may seem to some this album art issue is pretty much the only disappointing feature for me with the car so far. Does anyone know if playing music via a phone using car play is a workaround?

 

Same for me in my ‘20 Limited. I couldn’t figure it out, now I know. #sigh

 

If you have an iPhone and iOS13 then using CarPlay allows album art along with all the superior navigation apps, etc. to be displayed on the 2020 Prime screen. Great that there is at least one solution available.

 

Like others have noted, my 2020 Prime XLE only shows the artwork when the emergency brake is on. Seriously? Do they think people will stare at album art while driving? My wife's 2018 Volt displays all of the artwork with no issues. If Toyota is worried about distractions while driving, how about the numerous times I've taken my eyes off the road while fidgeting around with the climate and entertainment functions on the huge 11.5-inch screen.

 

Drop-down menus on their site don’t list Prius among the make/model choices. Has someone reported successfully using one of their units on a Prime?

 

My base model 2021 Prime has this issue with satellite radio and CDs (haven’t tried USB drives). Album art is on when the parking brake is engaged (regardless of transmission setting) OR in Park w/o the brake engaged, but disappears once out of Park and/or disengaging the brake. In CarPlay for Apple Music the album art is always available. Zero logic for this situation. Thought I had a defective unit until I found this thread.
