Hello Friends: I hate to revive this dead thread but I am having an issue with the AC in my 2005 Prius. It works ok but takes a long time to get the car cool like 8-10 miles or normal driving. I have been reading the threads but they seem to mostly deal with failed components like condensers or compressors I think mine just needs a shot of refrigerant. Can I just go to my local AC shop and get the refrigerant recharged or do I need to hunt down that nd-11 oil or what's the story? Any guidance would be appreciated. ;)

Yes, ask them to evacuate the system and recharge with the precise amount of R134a refrigerant. There is a label under the hood with the exact quantity required.
