Love the toy attachements on the prime. We Mtn bike, Kayak, camp etc. Love seeing the primes with toy haulers on it. How bad of milage hit did you take with the new wheel/tire combo?

After hours and hours of hunting & comparing, I think I've found the wheels I want for my new 2022 PP Limited in Magnetic Gray:

    upload_2021-12-18_23-33-5.png

    O.Z. Racing, ULTRALEGGERA
Tires: Michelin CrossClimate2 or Continental TrueContact Tour
    Size: 205/55R16
There's a Michelin deal coming up at Costco so I may go with those.

What's the consensus on MPG impact from the CrossClimate2s?

Also, I have a funny idea. My 2007 Prius will be in need of new tires within 5K-10K more miles. Instead of getting new tires for it I'll just swap the PP wheels & mostly new tires over. The current wheels on that car are some aftermarket ones the previous owner put on - I've never really been a fan and don't know how heavy they are. Maybe the old car will get an MPG boost from the new set of fly feet.

Most members here report a drop in mpg after new tires. How much sometimes depends on what your getting now and how you drive and measure mpg.
You're selections look good. I don't know how heavy the OEM mags are, but I'd think from lifting them they're more than 15lbs. If the car has toyo nanoenery at 17lbs for the 15" ers, the 16" cross are 21lbs and the triuecontact tours are 22lbs. - tirerack specs.

compare what you have to what you're getting. Rim & Tire Size Calculator. Custom Offsets - Wheel-Size.com
looks like a few 32nds of a inch diameter to me, which should add stiffer handling and close to nill change on the speedo odo and the rest of the gauges.

Thanks, yes new tires (no matter what) tend to hurt MPG. Just wondered about the CC2 in particular. I've had some experience with the Conti's on my 2007 Prius and the impact was negligible. But I love everything else the CC2's bring to the equation.

I used https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator to help with my decision. I do wish the offset was 40mm, but 35 should be OK:

    tiresize.png

TireRack ships black lugnuts and hubcentric rings with the wheels if I buy them there.
I love the weight number for these wheels, but the price is a bit painful! Everything else I looked at was 17lbs and up tho.

can't get much closer to OEM than that. Not much of anything after market is cheap these days. Mags have always been steep , even chrome reverse steelies from last century were expensive, relatively speaking.
Best of luck with the package and keep your fingers crossed they don't give too big a mpg hit, they shouldn't.

    Hi Don

I got the CC2 for my wife's CRV. Definitely seeing an MPG hit there but I don't mind because the grip is much better.

Thanks for the feedback! After a recent long drive in heavy rain I'm even more motivated to make the change.

cool selection, don: 16x7, 35mm offset alloys

I just bought at Prius Prime and also a set of winter wheels (third party).
I also ended up with the same wheel parameters: 16x7, 35 mm offset.
But I kept price in check at about $143/wheel but weight is 17.5 lbs per wheel.

I originally purchases a set of 15" steel wheels for winter set but the brake calipers touch the wheels - no clearance.
Tirerack recommended it as their winter set but didn't fit.
Steel wheels are rumored to be "narrower" than alloys,
maybe this is why the wheels wouldn't clear?
Some googling indicates that dealers are hesitant to put on 15" wheels so I decided to plus size.

But the lack of clearance motivated me to get a smaller offset (35 versus 40 oem) and wider wheel (7" instead of 6.5") to provide more clearance from the calipers to the outside face of wheel. Tirerack was gracious enough to take the return and swap out. Hopefully, no fees for shipping lost in the return. They promised full refund. Will see if they live up to it.

    Hmm... getting buyer's remorse now.
Maybe should have went with 16" width 38 mm offset Enkei wheels with weight of 16.5 lbs...
Since a smaller offset allows more clearance for the calipers,
I went with the 35 mm offset instead of 38 mm...
but the wider wheel should provide about 6 mm of additional clearance.

FWIW, I'm using this 15" Corolla steel rim with my 2010, no problems:

Corolla steel rim, part no: 42611-02471 (2003-2008 corolla or matrix, CE, LS, S)
steel rim lug nuts, part no: 90942-01007 (plain, open-ended, galvanized)

Addendum: 2" ABS End Cap makes a funky but functional centre cap with the above rim. It's slightly loose, but I cut a section off an old bicycle inner tube, about 3 mm wide, pushed that onto the lip of the hub opening, then tap the ABS cap on. Stays on fine, and prevents the hub getting all rusty.

Looking to replace the stock rims on my 2022 Prime I got last month. America's Tire has the DRAG DR-7715 X6.5 5-100.00/114.30 40 BKMTXX which the website seems to indicate will fit on the OEM tires. I don't want to change tire size to save as much MPG as I can. Has anyone gotten these rims before and if so did you keep your original tires? I've included a screenshot of what they would look like and I really like the look!

Do they list a weight for the 15"? I was checking Drag's website and they only show the DR77 in 17" and higher. Nice looking wheel.

I just wanted to show what I was talking about how:
    Steel Winter Rims:
    15X6 5-100 ET40 CB54 ST
    Tires:
    195/65R-15 BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK WS90 SL

do not fit Prius Prime 2022.

Here you can see that the steel wheel "shape" at 15" diameter touches the brake calipers and that the OEM wheels have margin and come away from them.

I think design matters and steel wheels are touching because the wheel design comes toward the center earlier and touches the caliper.

Most likely all alloys at same wheel size ET40 will fit so long as design of wheel spokes are more outward.

Weight listed on the site is 20lbs. Not sure how much heavier they are than the factory alloys from Toyota. This Drag wheel size seems to be exclusively sold at America’s Tire which is why Drag doesn’t have it on their site.

Thanks, I like the look and price but too heavy for me. I actually think I need to hold off on wheels/tires for now. Already spent too much in the past 6 weeks!

Wow with how much better some or your Primes look with even a 16" wheel - you guys have me thinking! 17" looks amazing too. Even more.

I know and understand 90 percent of this car is about fuel efficiency, but I still think it should have come with a 16" diameter wheel. 15" is small in 2022 even for a Prius. My 2012 Nissan Versa had 15" wheels - my 2007 Honda Fit had 16" wheels.. long time ago..

If anyone's interested in selling their stock wheels I'd love to buy a set off someone to use for snow tires. Message me on here. I'm in central VA but can work something for several states away and maybe more.

I can't tell you positively yes or no. I can say that a 205 65R15 tire fits fine. For comparison the OEM tire size has a diameter of 25" , the 205 65R15 tire has a diameter of 25.5" were as the 205 75R15 has a diameter of 27.1" .. So there is the possibility of a fitment issue there with a stock Prius and or Prime. It might fit inside the wells or it might not. It will sure throw off the speedo and most of the computer related calculations besides. You can find out about how much the speedo will be different from what the car is designed for at ( tiresize.com - tire size comparison option ).

Hi folks, we have purchased our new 2022 Prius Prime in September 2021, replacing our old Corolla S 2009. We installed winter tires (Bridgestone Blizzak WS-90) on the OEM mags and eventually sold the Ecopia tires. A few weeks ago, we got the new upgrade mags and tires installed. Oh boy, what a difference in steering response, handling and not to mention the increase speed in cornering. Obviously this is not a sports car, however the car feels totally different and much improved.

    BEFORE:
OEM mags and Bridgestone Blizzak WS-90 195/65R15: total weight per wheel: 37.2 lbs (when mounted with Bridgestone Ecopia tires):

    AFTER:
ENKEI xM-6 gloss black 17”x7.5, offset 45 and Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus 215/45R17: total weight: 39.6 lbs. Each set is 2.4 lbs more compared to the OEM set-up.

Nice wheels! What did you do with your old ones?
