You do have to question thier designers. Other than the "tint" there doesn't seem to be that much difference in the light gray and bisque. I have not seen the dark gray, but I imagine it's not what I call dark. My work 4Runner has Charcoal cloth and I really like it. I could be happy with whatever at this point but since I'm getting what I asked fo I know I'm as close to being happy as possible. I do use black all weather mats. With the light interiors I think the dark contrast breaks up the blandness of the all light interiors.

Yeah, I don't know who does their designing, but I think they need to hire ME! I am just really unimpressed with the colors. Both interior and exterior. Hence I ended up with the ever common Silver.

I would say the Dark Gray is more like medium Gray. To me true Dark Gray is almost Black. I'll wander around the lot tomorrow and see if I can find what other interior color it most closely matches.

I'd see if you can find someone who can replace the cloth with leather. I went from a silver Misty Grey to a blizzard pearl after going to the dealer to pick up my silver and saw how light the cloth was.

Here are photos of the silver metallic exterior and misty grey interior.

In the pictures that doesn't look that much lighter than the light gray I had in my Camry Hybrid. Really, after 67,000 miles it still looked good. Or as good as light gray can look (remember I didn't like it in the first place):)

If you like the color then I wouldn't worry about the wear and tear. I'm sure it's pretty durable.

To me the misty gray is almost white. I really need to see the other colors in person and DRIVE one before I can make a decision.

Well I sold my 2010 Prius due to problems with the seat bothering my back which made it so I couldn't drive it.
I lost about $1,500 on it selling it private sale. Your situation is less of a problem. You can have an interior shop use Scotchguard or a similar product and dirt will wash right off. My mother had all her car seats coated in thick plastic (bad idea wih airbags).
You don't have to sell it, just have a Scotchguard type product put on and you will be all set. :D

If you lived in a State that used a lot of road salt (Chemical) you'd probably want the darkest interior possible. It will be easier to clean in the spring and unlike California you can't escape road salt. Darker interiors generally are better for people who don't have cats and want their interiors to look cleaner.

    Steve,
First I've heard that you had to sell - so sorry. I followed what you had tried to resolve your seat issues. Tough when your anticipation is high and then a dose of bad reality sets in. Too bad. The new owner probably got a hell of a deal...

Anybody else run into unfortunate events as Steve did - and need to sell their '10?

Thanks DeanFL, the new owner seems very pleased with the car.
I hope no one else has to sell their Prius like I did, regardless of the reason.

I've had almost the opposite problem. I preferred a darker color but ordered the silver because I felt that it wouldn't get so hot in the summer and not show dirt. I love my car, but I have to admit that for the longest time I regretted my decision to get the silver. While it's true that it didn't show that much dirt, it never glowed either after spending hours cleaning and polishing it. I found it to be such a bland color, and way too commonplace. I wasn't unhappy enough to have considered selling it immediately, but I was considering trading it in for a touring model once the spectra blue mica came out. Now I am used to it and think it's a pretty good color. Had I gotten the black, say, I probably would have been unhappy once it got dirty and especially once little swirls and scratches appeared -- since they show up much more readily on black.

What I'm trying to say is that maybe while the OP regrets the interior color because you think it shows dirt too easily, it could be that if you had gotten a different color you would have not liked it for another reason (i.e., too dark, too hot, or shows lint too easily). I don't think there is any point second guessing your choices, especially over a relatively minor preference. You didn't say you hated the color (at least I don't remember you saying that). You just feel that it shows dirt. Probably nobody else will notice, but if it bothers you, just make sure you have something with you to keep it clean at all times.

Join the club. I don't smoke, eat or drink anything but water in the car ... boring, but very clean.

'Course, I have a Frankenstein seat in mine .... comfort takes priority over looks ... scary, huh?

    Di,

I actually love to clean my car, so I totally get what you are saying. I went with Misty Gray because my last few cars have had light beige or cashmere interiors, and I definitely needed a change of scenery.

I find this thread very interesting. We all have such differing tastes! It would be boring if we all liked the same thing, no? I am extremely picky about my interior color. The interior is more important to me than the exterior. Unlike many of you, I dislike dark interiors. I like the brightness of a light interior, and I prefer a tan tone. So I ordered bisque! I guess I don't really see dirt too much, b/c my cars with tan interiors never bothered me, even though a little dirt may show. Although, there is no eating, smoking or drinking in my car. I cover the back seat with a towel when my non-shedding dog rides in it. I actually dislike the dark grey (black? I can't tell) accents on the dash with the bisque, but I guess I'll have to live with it if I want a Prius! ;)

Wait a couple of months and if the color issue does not fade (pun intended) have it re-upholstered in the leather of your choice. Plenty of suppliers out there....

Call the dealer and ask if they can switch the seats. My dealer was trying to sell me an '09 with the cloth seats. I told him I really wanted the leather seats and he told me they could be switched. See if your dealer can put in the darker leather seats...and congrats!!! Be happy. You got a great car :D

Your GF puts her feet up on the dashboard?!?!?! I thought that was something done just in Missouri, USA! :D We drive down the freeway and see a ton of ladies with their barefeet on the dash! I think I would lose my mind! :D
