Actual EV Miles vs Estimated EV Range

    Two trips today one was 18.4 all EV and second trip was 20.0 all EV.
    Gotta hurry summer is almost over!:eek::whistle:

    What's your average speed on those drives ? flat I'm guessing ?
    I've just now crept up to 14.1 est but have had quite a few actuals of 16.0

    Oh! forgot I live on the flat, but every were I go I have to go down to a river and back up then going home Down to river and back up about 250 feet down and up each way, other than that it's pretty flat just small rolling roads.

    Update!
    Estimated EV starting trip 17.0 EV, most trips 17.5 -18.5 EV a few 18-19.5 EV, all trips are all EV no HV except for warm up cycles.

    This morning I had 16.1 mi. ev range. I ran out of ev at 14.5 mi. I pulled over at .1 mi ev left and shut the car off. The ICE came on for maybe 30 second or so then switched be into ev as I coasted into the chargers lot. I was .6 mi from the charger when ev ran out.
    I had 16.1 again after the charge, but I got fogged up while charging and turned up the heat too high while defrosting and the ICE came back on again. grrrr So I shut off the car again at the first stop light., which was about halfway back home. When I got back home I had 8.5 mi. at 999 mpg from the 15 + mi. trip.
    After charging at home I now have 16.6 ev

    I wish I knew the secret to getting maximum EV. Driving it home from the dealer, I had 22 km, but the highest I've ever had since is 18.9.

    I'm pretty new at this so I don't have many facts to give out. We have to remember the car adjusts to the driver much more so than normal cars do. Even those cars that remember how to set the pilot seat and mirrors for 2 different drivers.
    I'm guessing that the car knows how much you want to use ev and adjusts accordingly. But it is only a guess.

    Your 16.6 EV est., is just the cars best guess as to how far you can go on this charge. It will go higher or lower depending on how well you drive it. Winter time I have been as low as 8.3 ev est. summer time my best ev est. was about 18.1 ev.

    Was the 22 km actual measured distance or the EV range guestimate? When the car is new (or has been reset due to loss of 12v) is initializes itself to some default value...around 13.5 miles IIRC, (or 21.7 km)

    Actually the aux battery was trashed from going dead too many times in the showroom. I had to get it replaced. If it's a guesstimate, I guess it was based on the best-case scenario, which was never realized.

    I am trying to track this with some accuracy. Before setting out, I set one of the odometers to zero. I see how much is on the 'Estimated Range' and then drive and when I arrive at my destination, I compare the actual mileage driven on the odometer to the mileage used on the Estimated Driving range. Plan on starting to log this in the near future. Still just playing with the concept.

    You are right...it will vary. It is mostly curiosity on my part. Also, I want to see how it varies by the various routes that I drive. Leaving my house is mostly downhill versus the return.

    I was at 16.5 3 days ago after the charge. The car sat for 3 days while I worked on one of the other cars, getting way to dirty to even think about getting in the new car. This morning I started it up and took some pics and while it was on in the driveway it dropped to 16.3 in no more than 2 minutes. The scangauge also showed average miles per gal go up to almost 5, than back down to 0 while I was parked with the car on, -(on)- no ICE it was just on. The ICE came on after about 13 miles for no apparent reason. I stopped and shut the car off on the side of the road as soon as I noticed the ICE on. 30 seconds to a minute and the mpg was already at about 485. I still had 3 ev miles showing, but those 3 ev miles disappeared in about 1 more mile. The ICE ran most of the 1.5 miles I had left to get to the charger.
    Charged to 16.2 on that 240v 30a charger.
    I made it to the next charger 14.5 miles and the ICE turned on just as I almost finished backing in to the charger space. I shut the car off in time to still get the 999 mpg for the 14.5 mi.
    charged at that 240v 40a charger.
    Drove home which was around 13 mi and I still have 5 ev miles left. But I think the route back home from that charger is mostly down hill as when I drive that route in the other direction I just barely make with a few 10ths of a mile ev left.

    sharing what I remember as best as I can remember it.

    My experience is that while regeneration may increase the estimated EV range, those estimated miles seem to be used up much faster.

    Example: If I travel down the hill, I might start at 10 EV miles left, and have 10.5 EV miles at the bottom. But those 0.5 miles seem to go much faster than when the estimate gets back to 10 again. Maybe it's just me, but I wonder if there's some latency needed for a charge to fully "soak" in the Li-ion chemistry.
