What would be nice is if the acronym overline link was reinstated. Then anyone, anywhere, any time could click on an acronym and find its definition. The previous PriusChat only had 2 acronyms defined that way.

Hi Dan!... I don't know what you mean by "reinstated"?
If we start another thread, only the person who starts it can edit.. and time may be limited at that, except for moderators.. which throws a nasty burden on them.

That term must mean something else eh?

It does mean something else. ;) On the old board, if an acronym or abbreviation was entered into a database, when you placed your cursor over it, the words were displayed.

Nice feature. I don't know if it's possible to do that with the current site software, though.

Wow.. that would be sweet... I've seem similiar events with other words.. but I never knew who initiated them....
I suppose there would have to be some way for the software to see and sense the word and tie it into an interpretation.
Someone would have to do the homework and make all the links... prob a hassle at first, but once the base was created.. it would be easy to add.

I don't see how it could be any worse than handling a bbcode. When a post is created or edited, the submission process would check for words in the acronym database, and add the appropriate code around the acronym. The only danger might be that one would manually enter the code for words that aren't in the database. A default definition could be implemented for that, like "See Administrator"

I checked the IPB forum and it appears as if it can be done. The database would have to be maintained by the Admin, though.

Maybe someone else could collect the additions or modifications, and them submit them to danny once a month or so to save him too much hassle.

Thanks.. I don't think we want to burden Danny with such a task.....
If you go to the main forum page, this is now posted or "pinned" at the top.
    http://priuschat.com/Prius-Main-Forum-f19.html

Tag has agreed to edit as needed to keep it current.
All we have to do is reply with request in the format needed so all he needs to do is copy and paste.

So far this seems to be the easiest solution......
I for one, am grateful it is available and I appeciate your offer.

Welcome to the forum... in like manner... pls let me know if I can be of any assistance to you in the future!

hey, my pleasure... but weren't we originally talking about updating a database which would provide mouse-over definitions of acronyms and abbreviations on the fly? seems that what we have now is a pinned cheat sheet...

thanks! it's great to be a part of this vibrant, intelligent community.

yea, but I'm not sure the software supports it and if I remember right, Tag didn't have full credentials to maintain such a setup... but if enough people requested it, it may come into being.. untill then.... the pinned post works pretty good... not as cool as right mouse clicks on the fly though.

Of course there are a few acronyms that get thrown around thats prob best to not to get interpreted quite so easy!

Correct; I don't have such access and, frankly, that's probably best left to someone who is thoroughly familiar with the software. I mean, at this point, I know just enough to make me dangerous.

I believe that the software supports such "tags" (no pun intended), at least that was my impression after perusing the IPB forum. Hard to figure out, though, when a bunch of guys are responding with Bill Gates jokes and then, simultaneously, arguing about whether Lucifer and Satan "is the same dude".

Hello everyone. This is my first post! Everyone should know by now that the option packages for 2007 have been simplified. They all still have 2 letter designations. I have come up with ways to remember what they are. Please feel free to update or improve my ideas. For simplicity I only did the non-touring model:
    Pkg. #1 - HE
    Pkg. #2 - HG
    Pkg. #3 - HI
    Pkg. #4 - HK
    Pkg. #5 - NL
    Pkg. #6 - NW

HE=Hardly Exciting. Everybody has at least these options. You're nothing special.
HG=Handles Good. Thanks to VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)
HI=Hi Intensity? Nope. You don't got those cool headlights.
HK=Hope you Know - where you're going that is, because you ain't got the nav.
    NL=No Leather. That one is a no-brainer.
NW=Nothing Withheld. You are da man (or da whoa-man). You got it all.
