I experienced the same "jump" in my 2007 Gen 2 Prius, and I've experienced it in my 2010 Gen 3 Prius. I also experienced it in my 2001 Chevy Cavalier which was not a hybrid. It always happened when applying the brakes at the same time I was going over a bump in the road, or hitting a pothole. It does feel like a jump in acceleration because you are no longer braking, but as long as you keep applying pressure to the break and not freak out by taking your foot off, it will continue to break once the wheels regain traction. I do not consider it to be an actual acceleration though, just a loss of braking for a second that can catch someone off guard if they are not used to it. I know that everyone is saying that it's a hybrid thing, but I find it interesting that my 2001 Chevy did the same when the ABS kicked in over a bump or pothole. I just adjusted to it over the years and now it's like second-nature to me while driving. I know not to let off of the break and I know that it's not an acceleration, it's just a "jump" felt when you lose traction for a second.

I agree that the feeling is there in Gen II. But as with jlfinfrock, it happens on my 01 Chevy Blazer. I have experienced it big time, since of its 97000 miles over 300 is 4WD only roads over some really big bumps!

Correction: While driving a Generation III 2010 Prius "V" model. We haven't seen Generation 4 Prius yet so the 5 is a bit of a mistake.:D
