First, yes the C will accelerate a bit slower but not that significantly, Second, Lap times around a road course, like VIR, are not great as the OEM has too much understeer and that is a significant change from the Mazda 3. IThe C's understeer can be dialed back by disconnecting, not removing, the front antisway bar. It still understeers but much, much less. We did try the addition of a rear antisway bar, which is the alternative to disconnecting the front bar, but lap time increased by a couple seconds in 3 minutes on the 3.27 mile full course. We attributed that to the flatter cornering unloaded the inside wheels too quickly; if you just want flatter cornering that's a good choice. Better tires are a good change as well as wider wheels. better shocks, and lowered suspensions. Just make sure you keep tire diameter slightly less than OEM and don't get heavy tires, aka 205/60x15.
As a Honda tuner we've had hundreds of ZCivics and CRX and none get much better than 30 mpg; if you want to get 45 to 50 mpg the C is your best choice for the investment and while Toyota's not much into performance as Honda they aren't slack in thev reliability and value department either so choosing Honda XCivic, even the 4 dr hybrid, will not be a better choice much as I love my CRX. Besides, damn Honda for that putterbox CRZ instead of a successor to the CRX. All us CRX drivers left thousands of those CRZ in dealer lots because it was not a Sochiro product. And yeah, my Versa was not bad but not nearly as my Civic hybrid. cheers.
I agree, the concealed cargo space in the Fit is larger than the Prius C. The overall cargo usage for the Fit is much superior to the Prius C. One of the things I miss about my Civic is the trunk space. That, and not feeling like I have everyone's front grill up in my rear view window and feeling like I'm constantly being tailgated due to the lack of extended trunk. I was stopped on a decline and I had a large pickup truck so close to me that I couldn't even see the top of his hood.
This took a while for me to get used to as well... Going from a car with a big rear deck lid to no rear deck lid was a shock.
I commute 80 miles a day to work and live in NM I drive thru the canyon and its climing a large hill. I have never had any issue with my C keeping up with traffic at 75mph. Oh and my last tank mileage average was 62mpg. What other gas vehicle gets that mileage?????
So I pulled the trigger today and purchased the Prius c three in blizzard white. Originally was gonna lease but frustrated with the whole process and feel from what I'm hearing that it is a car I will want to drive for a long time. Still have to wait a few days till they get the white but I'm excited! iPhone ? - now Free
