So, today we picked up our 2008 Prius, Magnetic Gray Metallic, to replace our beloved 2005. We received the BC Provincial rebate of $2000 at the dealers and have the application for the Federal $2000 filled in and waiting, with baited breath, to see if our vehicle is entitled to it before sending it in.
Cannot really place our model in any category shown in the profile web page 'cause our information shows us as having received a Premium Package with everything except the Navigation ( we have a portable Garmin 2620 which we love and keep updated to use in any vehicle we are traveling in. )
In order to defray the cost of the new car which comes with the colo(u)r backup video my wife has been charging the neighbo(u)rs to come over to sit in the car while she puts it in reverse and I do a strip show behind the Prius. We made $0.75 CAD before the RCMP shut down the show without using the taser. B)

Premium Package would be Pkg B.

Technically for 2005, they called it the Premium Package too lol then when back to Pkg B and C for 2006. Besides, that's their "internal" code so to speak anyway.. the A,B,Cs...

I remember back in the old PC days when you got your 2005. I think I asked you about the PST rebate and a backup sensor??

The Magnetic Grey Prius is a very nice colour, esp. with the Touring wheels. Not to mention you get the $2,000 ecoAuto rebate (eventually lol) and before the rebates, it costs less than your 05!

Thanks for clarifying the package designation for us.
Although not many obvious changes from the '05 we consider that it handles better, the display is much improved, really appreciate the Auto Sound Level (ASB) which adjusts the sound system as exterior road noise increases plus the minor exterior styling things like chrome in the grill and the slightly extended spoiler all add up to making the upgrade worthwhile. We certainly are glad they changed the texture finish on the dash and, yes, do like the Magnetic Grey. Before our silver '05 we had a silver Ford station wagon so while that colour is still neat it's nice to have a change.
You have a much better memory than I have re the PST rebate and backup sensor. The backup video is great but I still think we will add the buzzer type backup warning gizmo which we added to the '05. It was very useful because the frequency change of the interior warning gave a pretty accurate indication of distance from objects while backing up. Also while the eyes are taking in everything moving within view the audible warning had saved us from smacking into shopping carts/humans which/who suddenly appeared around the back of a van or large vehicle parked alongside us while we were looking elsewhere..

mmhmm. Why the change anyway? Wanted to change colour?

I see. I actually dislike the buzzing noise. If I had the backup sensors, I'd rather just have a visual green/yellow/red) aid above the rear seat so I can see it as I reverse and look out the rear window. But I can see where the buzzing comes in handy, as you said when people suddenly appear. They tend to walk behind cars that are reversing.

Driving a brand new car is nerve-wracking -- I will probably feel better AFTER it gets its first scratch. Parallel parked downtown today, veeeeerrrrry slowly and carefully. The Prius is smaller than my old Accord, but I compensated for that, and pulled veeeerrrrry close to the curb.

Uh-huh. Got out of the car, looked at my parking job, and I was about two feet from the curb. Drawing board, back to.....

hahaha. You're gonna love the smaller size. Great for darting in and out of traffic (not that I support lane hopping). Works well in small parking spaces too. I've managed to park in spots where I had to park one side as close to the wall as possible, fold the mirrors then exit the passenger side.
